Albian Stage and Substage boundaries

open access: yesBulletin of the Geological Society of Denmark, 1984
The base of the Albian Stage has been defined in the European province at the earliest appearance of the ammonite Leymeriella ('Proleymeriella') schrammeni anterior Brinkmann, the earliest member of the important 'mid-Cretaceous' ammonite superfamily Acanthocerataceae. A type section in the Harz foredeep region of northern Germany has been proposed. A

Large-sized theropod Spinosaurus: an important component of the carnivorous dinosaur fauna in southern continents during the Cretaceous

open access: yesBSGF - Earth Sciences Bulletin, 2018
The Early Cretaceous of North Africa has Spinosaurinae dinosaur remains such as Spinosaurus recorded in Algeria (Guir Basin, Kem Kem beds), Egypt (Bahariya Formation), Morocco (Kem Kem beds), and Tunisia (Ain El Guettar Formation).

A 3D View of Igneous Plumbing Systems in Sedimentary Basins: Examples From the Santos and Campos Basins (Brazilian Margin)

open access: yesGeochemistry, Geophysics, Geosystems, Volume 27, Issue 4, April 2026.
Abstract Igneous Plumbing Systems in sedimentary basins comprise a complex of interconnected intrusive bodies that lead to volcano formation, though their 3D distribution and dynamics are not fully understood. We characterized the post‐breakup igneous plumbing systems at the Santos and Campos Basins using wells and 3D high‐resolution seismic and ...

Albian sedimentation in western Atlas, Morocco

open access: yesCretaceous Research
Detailed study of field sections and extensive ammonite collection allowed to specify the sedimentary evolution and age of the Albian series of the Western Atlas (Morocco). After a significant hiatus of earliest Albian age, the Albian transgression began in the late Douvilleiceras leightonense Zone with partly clastic deposits.

Global evolution and paleogeographic distribution of mid-Cretaceous orbitolinids

open access: yesUCL Open Environment, 2019
Members of the Larger Benthic Foraminiferal (LBF) family Orbitolinidae occurred from the Cretaceous to the Paleogene, however, they were most diverse during the mid-Cretaceous, and dominated the agglutinated LBF assemblages described from limestones of ...

An emendation of some Cretaceous species of "Reophax" (Foraminiferida) from northwest Europe and Poland [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
The classification of some deep-water agglutinated foraminifera identified as Reophax minuta Tappan, 1940 is revised based upon examination of type material.

P- and S- wave velocities of consolidated sediments from a seafloor seismic survey in the North Celtic Sea Basin, offshore Ireland [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
A geophysical survey was conducted over a hydrocarbon prospect in the North Celtic Sea Basin using a small array of ocean-bottom seismographs (OBSs). The purpose of this study was to determine the ratio of (P) compressional- to (S) shear-wave velocity of

The making of pure quartzose sand in continental interiors: Paraná River (Brazil and Argentina)

open access: yesSedimentology, Volume 73, Issue 3, Page 802-837, April 2026.
ABSTRACT As part of a comprehensive project on sedimentary processes in South America, this study focuses on sediment generation in the intracratonic Paraná Basin and monitors the evolution of sand composition along the Paraná River from central Brazil to the Río de la Plata estuary in Argentina.

Additions to Albian (Cretaceous) Crustacea from Iran

open access: yesBoletín de la Sociedad Geológica Mexicana, 2010
Two species of decapod crustaceans are described from upper Albian sediments of Central Iran. The small mecochirid lobster Huhatanka iranica n. sp. represents the second species of this genus, previously known from the Albian of Kansas, USA. Callianassa sensu lato is reported as an associated crustacean.

Hydrogeochemical conditions of oil and gas areas in Yamalo-Nenets oil and gas producing region (Part 2)

open access: yesИзвестия высших учебных заведений: Нефть и газ, 2020
The object of our research is hydrogeochemical conditions of the Mesozoic hydrogeological basin within Yamalo-Nenets oil and gas bearing region. The Mesozoic basin includes the Aptian-Albian-Cenomanian, Neocomian and Jurassic hydrogeological complexes ...
