Cooxidation of chloro- and methylphenols by Alcaligenes xylosoxidans JH1
World Journal of Microbiology and Biotechnology, 2000Alcaligenes xylosoxidans subspecies denitrificans JH1 was enriched with 2-chlorophenol from a mixed culture degrading different chloro- and methylphenols. The strain used all monochloro- and monomethylphenols apart from 2-methylphenol as sole source of energy and carbon with stoichiometric release of chloride.

Alcaligenes xylosoxidans neonatal meningitis: a case report.
Zhonghua yi xue za zhi = Chinese medical journal; Free China ed, 1996Neonatal meningitis caused by Alcaligenes xylosoxidans is associated with a high mortality rate. The causative microorganism is resistant to most antimicrobials. Generally, once the organism has been isolated from the cerebrospinal fluid of the infected neonate, initial therapy with a third-generation cephalosporin and trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole is ...

Purification and Characterization of Aromatic Amine Dehydrogenase fromAlcaligenes xylosoxidans
Bioscience, Biotechnology, and Biochemistry, 2004Aromatic amine dehydrogenase was purified and characterized from Alcaligenes xylosoxidans IFO13495 grown on beta-phenylethylamine. The molecular mass of the enzyme was 95.5 kDa. The enzyme consisted of heterotetrameric subunits (alpha2beta2) with two different molecular masses of 42.3 kDa and 15.2 kDa.

Peritoneal dialysis-associated peritonitis caused by Alcaligenes xylosoxidans.
American journal of nephrology, 1998Despite significant progress to decrease its incidence, peritonitis remains the main source of morbidity and treatment failure in patients on continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD). The majority of cases of peritonitis result from infection with aerobic gram-positive (Staphylococcus epidermidis and Staphylococcus aureus), or gram-negative ...

Alcaligenes xylosoxidans osteomyelitis without trauma in a patient with Good's syndrome
European Journal of Internal Medicine, 2007Since Robert Good's first description of thymoma with hypogammaglobulinemia in 1954 (since called Good's syndrome), fewer than 100 cases have been reported. The last comprehensive review by Tarr et al. listed the organisms that produce morbidity in this entity [1].
