Vector-Borne Zoonotic Pathogens in Eurasian Moose ( Alces alces alces )

Vector-Borne and Zoonotic Diseases, 2019
Climate change, with warmer temperatures and altered precipitation patterns, has affected the distribution of vectors and vector-borne diseases. In the northern hemisphere, vectors are spreading north, and with them, pathogens of zoonotic and animal health impact. Eurasian moose ( Alces alces alces

Characterization of the heterochromatin in moose (Alces alces) chromosomes

Genetica, 1990
The karyotype of moose (2n = 68) is characterized by very large C-bands close to the centromeres of most chromosomes. The C-banded material represents 40% of the genome. For further characterization of the heterochromatin chromosome spreads were treated with restriction endonucleases and the restriction enzyme (Re) banding pattern was analyzed. HaeIII,

Aspects of the Life Cycle and Pathogenesis of Elaphostrongylus alces in Moose (Alces alces)

The Journal of Parasitology, 2001
Aspects of the migratory life cycle and pathogenesis of Elaphostrongylus alces were studied in 7 randomly selected moose calves and 7 yearlings killed during August to November. One calf and 1 yearling were uninfected. The 6 infected calves had recent infections, whereas the 6 yearlings showed older infections from the summer of the previous year.

The role of the urals in the genetic diversity of the European moose subspecies (Alces alces alces)

Biology Bulletin, 2014
The genetic diversity of the Uralian moose population and the role of the Ural region in the phylogeographic structure of the European moose were evaluated based on sequence polymorphisms of the mtDNA control region. The nucleotide diversity of the Ural moose was low, whereas haplotype diversity was rather high.
