Highly Efficient Electroreduction of CO2 to C2+ Alcohols on Heterogeneous Dual Active Sites.

Angewandte Chemie, 2020
Electroreduction of CO2 to liquid fuels such as ethanol and n-propanol, powered by renewable electricity, offers a promising strategy for controlling the global carbon balance and addressing the need for the storage of intermittent renewable energy.

Catalytic Acceptorless Dehydrogenation of Aliphatic Alcohols.

Journal of the American Chemical Society, 2020
We developed the first acceptorless dehydrogenation of aliphatic secondary alcohols to ketones under visible light irradiation at room temperature by devising a ternary hybrid catalyst system comprising a photoredox catalyst, a thiophosphate ...

Alcoholism

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1984
After heart disease and cancer, alcoholism is America's third largest health problem; it affects 10 million people, costs $ 60 billion, and is implicated in 200 000 deaths annually. Alcohol is involved in 50% of deaths by motor vehicle and fire, 67% of murders, and 33% of suicides.

Manganese-Catalyzed β-Alkylation of Secondary Alcohols with Primary Alcohols under Phosphine-Free Conditions

ACS Catalysis, 2018
Manganese(I) complexes bearing a pyridyl-supported pyrazolyl-imidazolyl ligand efficiently catalyzed the direct β-alkylation of secondary alcohols with primary alcohols under phosphine-free conditions.

Alcohol

2005
Alcohol consumption affects overall mortality. Light to moderate alcohol consumption reduces the risk of coronary heart disease; epidemiological, physiological and genetic data show a causal relationship. Light to moderate drinking is also associated with a reduced risk of other vascular diseases and probably of type 2 diabetes.

Alcohol and Alcoholism

1978
Alcohol exerts a series of different effects, especially when ingested chronically, and alcoholism is a rather complex, heterogeneous disease. Genetic factors may be implicated on various levels such as metabolism, acute effects, tolerance, dependence, and medical complications. This presentation will be arranged in three parts: (1) The main results of
