Physiological and morphological responses of red alder and sitka alder to flooding*
Physiologia Plantarum, 1997Red alder (Alnus rubra Bong.) and sitka alder (A. viridis ssp. sinuata [Regel] Löve & Löve) are nitrogen‐fixing woody species that grow sympatrically along the Pacific coast of North America. Red alder is found in poorly drained lowlands, as well as in soils of moist upland slopes, whereas sitka alder generally colonizes well‐drained soils.

A Diels–Alder Approach to (−)‐Ovalicin
Angewandte Chemie International Edition, 2007A round at the Oval: The antiangiogenic activity of the natural product ovalicin has sparked significant interest. A highly efficient enantio- and diastereoselective total synthesis of ovalicin proved successful in which the key step involved an endo selective Diels-Alder reaction (see scheme, PG = protecting group). (Chemical Equation Presented).
