Practices, barriers, and opportunities for dietitians‐nutrionists in critical care in latin america: A cross‐sectional study

open access: yesJournal of Parenteral and Enteral Nutrition, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Dietitians–nutritionists (DNs) play a key role in intensive care units (ICUs), yet their scope of practice varies across settings. This study aimed to describe the professional practices of DNs working in ICUs in Latin America and to identify factors associated with their level of professional activity.

Anemia and Child Education: The Case of Colombia [PDF]

open access: yes
Welfare programs in Colombia have been focused on reducing malnutrition and hunger and on increasing school attendance rates. However, there is not much evidence on the hypothesized relationship between nutrition and education.

Betaine‐, xylitol‐, and extra virgin olive oil–based toothpaste modulates inflammation and oral nitric oxide pathway: Clinical trial in gingivitis

open access: yesJournal of Periodontology, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Gingivitis is a prevalent and reversible inflammatory condition driven by microbial dysbiosis. Beyond plaque control, interest has grown in oral hygiene formulations capable of modulating inflammation while preserving key microbial functions. Extra virgin olive oil (EVOO), together with xylitol and betaine, has demonstrated clinical

Transnasal endoscopy for eosinophilic esophagitis surveillance in adolescents with mild autism spectrum disorder: A single‐center case series

open access: yesJPGN Reports, EarlyView.
Abstract Children with autism spectrum disorder (ASD) often experience sensory sensitivities and procedural anxiety, which can complicate sedated esophagogastroduodenoscopy (EGD). Transnasal endoscopy (TNE) is a less invasive, unsedated alternative, but data on its use in this population are limited.

Preharvest application of antagonistic yeasts for the control of fungal pathogens in organic peach and plum orchards

open access: yesJournal of the Science of Food and Agriculture, EarlyView.
Abstract BACKGROUND The control of fungal diseases in organic fruit production remains a major challenge due to the limited availability of authorized phytosanitary tools. This study evaluates the efficacy of two antagonistic yeasts – Metschnikowia pulcherrima L672 and Hanseniaspora uvarum L793 – in organic peach (Prunus persica) and plum (Prunus ...

Finding Plankton: A Marine Science Scavenger Hunt for Local Communities

open access: yesLimnology and Oceanography Bulletin, EarlyView.
Abstract At a time of increasing political polarization and rapidly accelerating climate change, it is important to build public knowledge and empathy toward nature to foster behavioral changes; however, addressing a knowledge deficit can be insufficient to affect these changes.

Multimode Phonon Lasing via Self‐Induced Optical Coherent Pumping

open access: yesLaser &Photonics Reviews, EarlyView.
A silicon optomechanical nanobeam generates self‐sustained phonon lasing in multiple competing mechanical modes via self‐pulsing, an intrinsic optical modulation arising from cavity nonlinearity. This self‐organized mechanism enables robust multi‐frequency operation spanning periodic, quasi‐periodic, and chaotic regimes without external modulation. The
