Humus Forms in Mediterranean Scrublands with Aleppo Pine [PDF]
Commonly reported effects of pine on topsoil include acidification, a decrease in biological activity, and an accumulation of surface organic matter. Such effects have not been documented for Mediterranean woodland and scrubland areas.

Influence of partial serotiny of Aleppo pine, Italian, and Arizona cypress on seed germination [PDF]
The usability of seeds for the production of seedlings, as well as the utilisation potential of seeds for natural regeneration was assessed by the comparative analysis of seed germination from the cones of different ages of three species with partial ...

Stand, tree and crown variables affecting cone crop and seed yield of Aleppo pine forests in different bioclimatic regions in Tunisia [PDF]
In Tunisia, the Aleppo pine seed has a great importance, since in the last decades human consumption has risen considerable. Thus its regeneration and seed production capacities are important factors to take into account to reach the necessities of the

Aflatoxin in Tunisian Aleppo Pine Nuts
Abstract Twenty-six of 50 Aleppo pine nut samples collected throughout Tunisia showed relatively high levels of contamination by aflatoxin. Some samples contained as much as 2000 ppb aflatoxin B1, and very few contained less than 100 ppb. Total aflatoxins as high as 7550 ppb were found.

The geographic selection mosaic for squirrels, crossbills and Aleppo pine [PDF]
Abstract The interactions between many species are structured in a geographic mosaic of populations among which selection is divergent. Here we tested the hypothesis that such a geographic selection mosaic arises for common crossbills ( Loxia curvirostra ) feeding on seeds ...

Point processes statistics of stable isotopes: analysing water uptake patterns in a mixed stand of Aleppo pine and Holm oak [PDF]
Aim of study: Understanding inter- and intra-specific competition for water is crucial in drought-prone environments. However, little is known about the spatial interdependencies for water uptake among individuals in mixed stands.
