The Synergy Between a Silver‐Ruthenium Antimicrobial and Aminoglycosides Is Based on Severe Macromolecular Damage

open access: yesMolecular Microbiology, EarlyView.
AGXX enhances aminoglycoside activity against multidrug‐resistant pathogens such as uropathogenic Escherichia coli by increasing reactive oxygen species, causing protein aggregation and DNA damage. This effect is reduced by oxygen limitation or antioxidants. Polyphosphate protects cells from oxidative damage.

Polyphosphates Attenuate Interleukin‐12 Production in Macrophages Infected With Legionella pneumophila

open access: yesThe FASEB Journal, Volume 40, Issue 11, 15 June 2026.
Legionella pneumophila infection leads to the release of pathogen‐associated molecular patterns, which recruits the adaptor protein MYD88, initiating both activating (e.g., NF‐κB) and inhibitory (e.g., PI3K/AKT) signaling pathways that regulate IL‐12 gene expression.

Cell Envelope Remodeling and Lipid Metabolism Coordinate Extracellular Vesicle Output in Mycobacterium Tuberculosis

open access: yesJournal of Extracellular Biology, Volume 5, Issue 6, June 2026.
ABSTRACT Tuberculosis (TB), caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis (Mtb), remains a leading global cause of death due to the pathogen's highly adaptive physiology and its ability to manipulate host immunity. Despite extensive study, our understanding of Mtb biology during infection remains incomplete, limiting the development of new diagnostics ...
