Alexander matrices and Alexander polynomials
1994Abstract Although the method that we have used to calculate the Alexander polynomial of a knot only uses the theory of determinants, the trouble with it is to know why it works. It is easy to check that the result is invariant under the Reidemeister moves but it would be nice to link it in with other invariants. ‘It would be nice’ sounds
