Lacking data? No worries! How synthetic images can alleviate image scarcity in wildlife surveys: A case study with muskox (Ovibos moschatus)

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study investigates the integration of synthetic imagery, created with diffusion‐based models, to supplement limited training data and improve muskox (Ovibos moschatus) detection in zero‐shot (ZS) and few‐shot (FS) settings. ZS models detected more than 80% of muskoxen in real images, confirming the potential of synthetic data as a substitute for ...

Fusion or Confusion? Assessing the Impact of Visible‐Thermal Image Fusion for Automated Wildlife Detection

open access: yesRemote Sensing in Ecology and Conservation, EarlyView.
This study evaluates the performances of synchronous aerial visible (VIS) and thermal infrared (TIR) imagery for detecting great blue heron (Ardea herodias) nests and individuals using a YOLO11n model. VIS and TIR images were automatically aligned using deep learning, and both early and late fusion approaches were tested.

Sustainability in Business Process Management: Research Landscape and Theoretical Implications

open access: yesSustainable Development, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Sustainability in Business Process Management (BPM) is a growing priority for organisations seeking to balance operational efficiency with environmental and social responsibility. Although research highlights the benefits of integrating sustainability into BPM—such as regulatory compliance, cost reduction and corporate reputation enhancement ...

Unveiling Van Der Waals Forces and Associated Hamaker Constants Across the Nanomaterial Landscape With Advanced Atomic Force Microscopy

open access: yesSmall Methods, EarlyView.
Van der Waals interactions are reviewed through the lens of advanced atomic force microscopy, highlighting recent progress in nanoscale quantification of Hamaker constants. Emerging methodologies enable high‐resolution mapping of intermolecular forces in 2D materials and biological systems, bridging experimental measurements with quantum‐informed ...

Does Surgical Approach Influence Benchmark Attainment in Intrahepatic Cholangiocarcinoma?

open access: yesWorld Journal of Surgery, EarlyView.
Intrahepatic cholangiocarcinoma (ICC) is a rare malignancy with rising incidence and poor prognosis. Surgical resection remains the only curative option, with outcomes driven by R0 margins and lymphadenectomy (LND). While open liver resection (OLR) is standard, laparoscopic (LLR) and robotic liver resection (RLR) are increasingly used, with concerns ...
