ABSTRACT Global warming has intensified the atmospheric water cycle, leading to more frequent and severe extreme precipitation events, which are a major driver of rainstorm‐induced flooding. Developing regions such as the China–Pakistan economic corridor (CPEC), spanning highly heterogeneous terrain and climate zones, face elevated risk due to limited ...

Non-locality of the phenomenon of consciousness according to Roger Penrose [PDF]
Roger Penrose is known for his proposals, in collaboration with Stuart Hameroff, for quantum action in the brain. These proposals, which are still recent, have a prior, less known basis, which will be studied in the following work.

We compared ERA5‐Land and BR‐DWGD datasets for climate trend analysis and vadose zone hydrological simulations in the Brazilian Cerrado. Bias correction improved the representation of daily meteorological variables in ERA5‐Land. Although long‐term climate change signals were consistent between the datasets, inherent errors in ERA5‐Land propagated ...

Managing atrial fibrillation in the global community: The European perspective. [PDF]
Atrial fibrillation is a common, global problem, with great personal, economic and social burdens. As populations age it increases in prevalence and becomes another condition that requires careful chronic management to ensure its effects are minimised ...

A transient ensemble of convection‐permitting climate simulations is used to compute bias‐corrected user‐relevant climate indices for Germany under recent and future climate conditions, both considering high spatial resolution and uncertainty estimations. For high temperature indices, a clear increase is observed, for example, for hot days and tropical

Operational Near Real Time Global Riverine Sediment Flux Estimates From Space
Abstract We present global estimates of riverine sediment flux derived from an open‐source suite of algorithms using the Harmonized Landsat Sentinel (HLS) and discharge products. We estimated Sediment Concentration (suspended sediment concentration [SSC]) via neural networks, trained and tested on matchups of in situ and HLS data, obtaining a median ...

Self‐Hybridized Exciton‐Polariton Photodetectors From Layered Metal‐Organic Chalcogenolates
Self‐hybridized exciton‐polariton photodetectors are demonstrated using high refractive index mithrene, eliminating the need for top mirrors. This simplified architecture enables tunable sub‐bandgap photodetection via lower exciton‐polariton states and enhanced carrier transport through ultrafast polariton group velocities.

Is it possible to establish reference values for ankle muscle isokinetic strength? A meta-analytical study [PDF]
BACKGROUND: The importance of measuring ankle muscle strength (AMS) has been demonstrated in a variety of clinical areas. Much data has been accumulated using the Cybex Norm isokinetic dynamometer but a uniform framework does not exist.
