Moisture Retention of Cultivated and Pastured Mollisols and Alfisols
Soil Science Society of America Journal, 1971Abstract Comparison of surface soil moisture characteristic curves for Mollisols and Alfisols under pasture and row‐crop cultivation revealed that below ⅓ bar suctions cultivated Mollisols retained 40% more water and cultivated Alfisols retained 25% more than corresponding pastured soils.

Nutrient uptake and crop productivity on Podzolic soils (Alfisols)
2001Various methods to assess crop demand for nutrients were studied. Application of optimal amounts of macro- and micronutrients significantly increased yields of potato, annual grasses, and clover. The effect of nutrient uptake on crop productivity was revealed.
