Long-term Chinese milk vetch incorporation promotes soil aggregate stability by affecting mineralogy and organic carbon

open access: yesJournal of Integrative Agriculture
Soil aggregates profoundly impact soil sustainability and crop productivity, and they are influenced by complex interactions between minerals and organics.

Microtopography controls organic and inorganic carbon stocks in Vertisols: Insights from a climosequence on the Texas coastal plain

open access: yesSoil Science Society of America Journal, Volume 90, Issue 2, March/April 2026.
Abstract Complex interactions between ecological and environmental factors govern soil organic carbon (SOC) and soil inorganic carbon (SIC) stocks across landscapes. In gilgai‐bearing Vertisols, submeter differences in water availability result in micro‐spatial variability in soil properties.

Effect of calcium and boron on biomass yield and nutrients uptake by tomato (Solanum lycopersicum)

open access: yesThe Indian Journal of Agricultural Sciences, 2020
A pot experiment was conducted in acid soil (Alfisol) using four levels of lime (CaCO3) based on lime requirement (LR), viz. 0, 1/3, 2/3, and 1 and four levels of boron (B), viz.

Soil Preservation in Warming Climate: Organic Amendments Enhance Microbial Carbon Use Efficiency in Mediterranean Soils

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Soil Science, Volume 77, Issue 2, March–April 2026.
ABSTRACT Mediterranean agroecosystems are vulnerable to extreme heat‐stress, especially because of their low organic matter content. Organic amendments may enhance soil nutrient content and microbial resilience to heatwaves, whose frequency is increasing in Mediterranean regions. However, their effectiveness under these conditions is still unclear.

Large Variations in the Transpiration of Sorghum Canopies Under High Evaporative Demand Are Positively Related to Water Use Efficiency

open access: yesPlant, Cell &Environment, Volume 49, Issue 3, Page 1544-1560, March 2026.
ABSTRACT Transpiration restriction under high vapour pressure deficit (VPD), measured indoors with individual plants, increases water use efficiency (WUE). However, VPD is not the only factor driving transpiration, individual plants in a field rapidly become a canopy, and reports on the transpiration restriction versus WUE are scant.

Tensile Strength: A Pedologist's Perspective on Variability in Cohesive and Non‐Cohesive Horizons From Brazil's Coastal Tablelands

open access: yesJournal of Plant Nutrition and Soil Science, Volume 189, Issue 1, Page 36-48, February 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Previous research has underscored the importance of evaluating soil consistency for accurate determination of cohesive character and mechanical properties. Although qualitative assessments by pedologists are pertinent, they exhibit inherent subjectivity that may compromise accuracy.

PENGARUH PEMBERIAN PUPUK KANDANG DAN ZA (Zwavelzure Amonium) TERHADAP KETERSEDIAAN HARA DAN PERTUMBUHAN TANAMAN JAGUNG PADA ALFISOL GRESIK

open access: yesJurnal Agrotropika
Alfisol is one type of soil that chemically has a very low level of fertility, especially nutrients N, P, K and organic matter, therefore it is necessary to improve alfisol soil by applying manure and ZA.

Potential of corn cob compost in corn fertilization on alfisol soil [PDF]

open access: yesBIO Web of Conferences
Corn cobs as waste material after the seeds are removed have not been utilized so they have the potential to become pollutants. Alfisols as marginal land require improvement materials for cultivated land.

Legacy effects under an emerging novel disturbance regime: A memory‐based framework to quantify tree growth responses

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 2, February 2026.
Moderate‐severity disturbances often leave legacy effects on surviving trees. We conceptualized the legacy effect as a shift in ecological memory (quantified by sensitivity, length, and temporal pattern) and quantified the legacy effect of drought and intentional fire on tree growth.
