Homotopy Invariant Commutative Algebra over Fields [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
These notes illustrates the power of formulating ideas of commutative algebra in a homotopy invariant form. They can then be applied to derived categories of rings or ring spectra. These ideas are powerful in classical algebra, in representation theory of groups, in classical algebraic topology and elsewhere.

Families of algebraic varieties and towers of algebraic curves over finite fields [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
We introduce a new construction of towers of algebraic curves over finite fields and provide a simple example of an optimal tower.

Dielectrophoresis Tutorial: Inspired by Hatfield's 1924 Patent and Boltzmann's Theory and Experiments of 1874

open access: yesELECTROPHORESIS, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The first patent to describe dielectrophoresis (DEP) as a means and process to separate particles from a mixture was granted by the US Patent Office to Henry Stafford Hatfield in 1924. The novel methods of sample preparation and designs of electrode geometry covered by the patent's disclosures and claims describe the basis for most present‐day

eCherry: A Modelica Library for Modular Dynamic Modelling of Electrochemical Reactors

open access: yesElectrochemical Science Advances, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Electrochemical reactors offer promising pathways for defossilizing the chemical industry. To understand the operation as well as to evaluate and optimise their performance and efficiency, modelling presents a crucial tool. Currently, no comprehensive open‐source library for dynamic modelling of electrochemical reactors exists, and instead ...

Two‐phase model for the excavation analysis in partially saturated soft soils using the particle finite element method

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical and Analytical Methods in Geomechanics, Volume 47, Issue 2, Page 145-186, 10 February 2023., 2023
Abstract A two‐phase velocity‐pressure stabilized formulation is proposed for the numerical analysis of mechanized excavations in partially saturated soft soils using the Particle Finite Element Method (PFEM). The fully coupled formulation is based on the theory of porous media in association with the Soil Water Characteristic Curve and the porosity ...

Optimal deployment of indoor wireless local area networks

open access: yesNetworks, Volume 81, Issue 1, Page 23-50, January 2023., 2023
Abstract We present a two‐phase methodology to address the problem of optimally deploying indoor wireless local area networks. In the first phase, we use Helmholtz's equation to simulate electromagnetic fields in a typical environment such as an office floor.
