Choreography of divisors on algebraic curves [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
For a non-singular real algebraic projective curve, topological restrictions on a closed motion of a simple real divisor in its linear equivalence class are found.

Reprogrammable, In‐Materia Matrix‐Vector Multiplication with Floppy Modes

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
This article describes a metamaterial that mechanically computes matrix‐vector multiplications, one of the fundamental operations in artificial intelligence models. The matrix multiplication is encoded in floppy modes, near‐zero force deformations of soft matter systems.

On a generalization of the Deligne–Lusztig curve of Suzuki type and application to AG codes

open access: yesJournal of Mathematical Cryptology
In this article, Algebraic-Geometric (AG) codes and quantum codes associated with a family of curves that includes the famous Suzuki curve are investigated. The Weierstrass semigroup at some rational point is computed.

Enriched spin curves on stable curves with two components [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2008
L. Maino constructed a moduli space for enriched stable curves, by blowing-up the moduli space of Deligne-Mumford stable curves. We introduce enriched spin curves, showing that a parameter space for these objects is obtained by blowing-up the moduli space of spin curves.

Localized and Extended Phases in Square Moiré Patterns

open access: yesAnnalen der Physik, EarlyView.
Rotated superimposed lattices in two dimensions, the termed moiré patterns, represent a clear example of how the structure affects the physical properties of a particle moving on it. A robust numerical treatment of continuous and discrete models leads to confirm that while localized states result from angles that produce non‐commensurable lattices ...

On certain self-orthogonal AG codes with applications to Quantum error-correcting codes [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2019
In this paper a construction of quantum codes from self-orthogonal algebraic geometry codes is provided. Our method is based on the CSS construction as well as on some peculiar properties of the underlying algebraic curves, named Swiss curves. Several classes of well-known algebraic curves with many rational points turn out to be Swiss curves. Examples

Heights on algebraic curves

open access: yes, 2015
In these lectures we cover basics of the theory of heights starting with the heights in the projective space, heights of polynomials, and heights of the algebraic curves. We define the minimal height of binary forms and moduli height for algebraic curves and prove that the moduli height of superelliptic curves ${\mathfrak{H} (f) \le c_0 \tilde{H} (f)}$

Bayesian and frequentist statistical models to predict publishing output and article processing charge totals

open access: yesJournal of the Association for Information Science and Technology, EarlyView.
Abstract Academic libraries, institutions, and publishers are interested in predicting future publishing output to help evaluate publishing agreements. Current predictive models are overly simplistic and provide inaccurate predictions. This paper presents Bayesian and frequentist statistical models to predict future article counts and costs.

Cohomology of moduli spaces of Del Pezzo surfaces

open access: yesMathematische Nachrichten, Volume 296, Issue 1, Page 80-101, January 2023., 2023
Abstract We compute the rational Betti cohomology groups of the coarse moduli spaces of geometrically marked Del Pezzo surfaces of degree 3 and 4 as representations of the Weyl groups of the corresponding root systems. The proof uses a blend of methods from point counting over finite fields and techniques from arrangement complements.

On elliptic curves with a closed component passing through a hexagon

open access: yesAnalele Stiintifice ale Universitatii Ovidius Constanta: Seria Matematica, 2019
In general, there exists an ellipse passing through the vertices of a convex pentagon, but any ellipse passing through the vertices of a convex hexagon does not have to exist.
