High‐order multigrid strategies for hybrid high‐order discretizations of elliptic equations

open access: yesNumerical Linear Algebra with Applications, Volume 30, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract This study compares various multigrid strategies for the fast solution of elliptic equations discretized by the hybrid high‐order method. Combinations of h$$ h $$‐, p$$ p $$‐, and hp$$ hp $$‐coarsening strategies are considered, combined with diverse intergrid transfer operators.

Tropicalization of 1-tacnodal curves on toric surfaces [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2017
A degeneration of a singular curve on a toric surface, called a tropicalization, was constructed by E. Shustin. He classified the degeneration of 1-cuspidal curves using polyhedral complexes called tropical curves. In this paper, we define a tropical version of a 1-tacnodal curve, that is, a curve having exactly one singular point whose topological ...

ON THE GENUS OF CURVES OF AN ALGEBRAIC SYSTEM [PDF]

open access: yesTransactions of the American Mathematical Society, 1949
Professor C. Chevalley has recently pointed out to me the desirability of having a simple algebraic proof of the following theorem: The genus of any curve of an algebraic system of algebraic curves is not greater than the genus of the generic curve of the system.

A 3D fully‐nonlinear potential‐flow solver for efficient simulations of large‐scale free‐surface waves

open access: yesInternational Journal for Numerical Methods in Engineering, Volume 124, Issue 1, Page 119-158, 15 January 2023., 2023
Abstract In the quest for a numerical method for surface waves and wave‐induced effects applicable when linear or weakly nonlinear methods are insufficient, a three‐dimensional numerical wave tank assuming fully‐nonlinear potential‐flow theory is proposed.

Real algebraic curves, the moment map and amoebas [PDF]

open access: yesAnn. of Math. (2) 151 (2000), no. 1, 309--326, 2000
In this paper we prove the topological uniqueness of maximal arrangements of a real plane algebraic curve with respect to three lines. More generally, we prove the topological uniqueness of a maximally arranged algebraic curve on a real toric surface.

Short Wavelength Limit of the Dynamic Matsubara Local Field Correction

open access: yesContributions to Plasma Physics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT We investigate the short wavelength limit of the dynamic Matsubara local field correction G˜q,zl$$ \tilde{G}\left(\mathbf{q},{z}_l\right) $$ of the uniform electron gas based on direct ab initio path integral Monte Carlo (PIMC) results over an unprecedented range of wavenumbers, q≲20qF$$ q\lesssim 20{q}_{\mathrm{F}} $$, where qF$$ {q}_{\mathrm{
