Conformal Interactions Between Matter and Higher‐Spin (Super)Fields

open access: yesFortschritte der Physik, Volume 71, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
Abstract In even spacetime dimensions, the interacting bosonic conformal higher‐spin (CHS) theory can be realised as an induced action. The main ingredient in this definition is the model S[φ,h]$\mathcal {S}[\varphi ,h]$ describing a complex scalar field φ coupled to an infinite set of background CHS fields h, with S[φ,h]$\mathcal {S}[\varphi ,h ...

Dirichlet and Neumann Problems for String Equation, Poncelet Problem and Pell-Abel Equation

open access: yesSymmetry, Integrability and Geometry: Methods and Applications, 2006
We consider conditions for uniqueness of the solution of the Dirichlet or the Neumann problem for 2-dimensional wave equation inside of bi-quadratic algebraic curve.

Adjoint divisors on algebraic curves

open access: yesAdvances in Mathematics, 2004
AbstractLet C be a numerically connected curve lying on a smooth algebraic surface. We show that if A is an ample invertible sheaf satisfying some technical numerical hypotheses then ωC⊗A is normally generated. As a corollary we show that the sheaf ωC⊗2 on a numerically connected curve C of arithmetic genus pa⩾3 is normally generated if ωC is ample and

A Subbuteo‐Inspired Rolling Isolation System for Protecting Rigid Blocks

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This study investigates a Subbuteo‐inspired rolling isolation system (RIS) as an effective means for protecting rigid blocks. The block is assumed to be rigidly connected to a curved base sector, allowing it to roll back and forth freely under dynamic excitations. The intrinsic trait of the proposed isolation concept is that the rigid block is

Curve Graphing in MS Excel and Applications

open access: yesSpreadsheets in Education, 2007
Curve sketching is one of the best ways to visualize and investigate the behavior of functions and equations. Graphs convey a lot more information about functions than algebraic expressions would.

Multi‐Axial Subassemblage Testing System for Hybrid Simulation With Large‐Scale Structural Components

open access: yesEarthquake Engineering &Structural Dynamics, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT This article presents the Multi‐Axial Subassemblage Testing facility of ETH Zurich, Switzerland (ETHZ‐MAST) for quasi‐static testing and hybrid simulation (HS) of large‐scale structural components and assemblies. The ETHZ‐MAST features a 6‐degrees‐of‐freedom (DOFs, 3 translations and 3 rotations) loading system based on a steel crosshead and ...

Modulated Harmonic Wave in Series‐Connected Discrete Josephson Transmission Line: The Discrete Calculus Approach

open access: yesphysica status solidi (b), Volume 260, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
The modulated harmonic wave in the discrete series‐connected Josephson transmission line (JTL) is considered and the equation describing the modulation amplitude is obtained. The equation turns out to be the defocusing nonlinear Schrödinger equation. The most interesting result following the calculations is the existence of the dark solitons in the JTL.
