Extending the hyper‐logistic model to the random setting: New theoretical results with real‐world applications

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
We develop a full randomization of the classical hyper‐logistic growth model by obtaining closed‐form expressions for relevant quantities of interest, such as the first probability density function of its solution, the time until a given fixed population is reached, and the population at the inflection point.

Regimes and Mechanisms of Inflammation Described by a Reaction–Diffusion System

open access: yesMathematical Methods in the Applied Sciences, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Inflammation is a biological response of the immune system to external stimuli such as injury or infection. It plays an important role in various diseases including atherosclerosis, cancer, and neurodegenerative diseases. This work presents a generic inflammation model based on reaction–diffusion equations that describes the concentrations of ...

Why Hoffmann? His Chemistry**

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 22, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Roald Hoffmann was the perfect theoretical chemist to collaborate with R. B. Woodward on the Principle of Conservation of Orbital Symmetry. This essay presents Hoffmann's capabilities as of May 5, 1964. Abstract Abstract: Why was it that Roald Hoffmann was the perfect collaborator for R. B.

A novel fast strategy to calculate equieffective doses under different dose rate conditions

open access: yesMedical Physics, EarlyView.
Abstract Background Radiopharmaceutical therapy (RPT) has gained notable attention for its potential in treating difficult cancers, with [177Lu]Lu‐DOTATATE being a notable example. However, the radiobiology of RPT is less understood compared to external beam radiotherapy (EBRT), and dosimetry protocols are not standardized.

Why Woodward and Hoffmann? And Why 1965?**

open access: yesThe Chemical Record, Volume 23, Issue 1, January 2023., 2023
R. B. Woodward and Roald Hoffmann provided perfect intellectual and experiential synergy for their collaboration on orbital symmetry control of pericyclic reactions. This publication describes their idiosyncratic qualities and how perfectly they matched, at the right place and at the right time.
