Numerical Simulation of Three‐Dimensional Unsteady Extrudate Swell Through Annular Dies: Effects of Die Core Opening Position and Sag on Parison Formation

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Study on transient parison formation at various strokes during extrusion of Newtonian and viscoelastic fluids. In the presence of an offset between the mandrel and the bushing, Newtonian fluids exhibit a reduction in extrudate diameter, whereas viscoelastic fluids display diameter swelling only at flow rates exceeding a critical threshold.

Improved Inverse Identification of Anisotropic Polymer Properties via FEMU and VFM With Sensitivity Analysis

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
Heterogeneous biaxial testing for anisotropic elastic properties identification from full displacement field. ABSTRACT The stretch‐blowing process of PET bottles induces significant anisotropy in mechanical properties due to the differential elongation of macromolecular chains.

A Simplified Polymerization Model for Fluorinated Polymers: Average Microstructural Properties and Recipe Optimization

open access: yesPolymer Engineering &Science, EarlyView.
A model‐based strategy for the design of the emulsion polymerization recipe for a fluoroelastomer, namely Tecnoflon, is reported. This ensures target average microstructural properties like number‐average molecular weight, number of iodine end‐groups and number of bridges per chain can be obtained and preserved all along the reaction.

Exploration of the Predictive Validity of Middle School Math Screeners

open access: yesPsychology in the Schools, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Universal screening is a key element of multi‐tiered systems of support. Relative to literacy, fewer studies have investigated the psychometric properties of math assessments particularly amongst middle school students. We investigated whether outcomes from two types of curriculum‐based measures (CBMs), computational fluency (M‐COMP) and ...
