Abstract The accurate prediction and simulation of thermal transients in district heating networks is essential for the meaningful analysis of combined heat and power systems. For this purpose, the focus of this paper lies on the development of a consistent and comprehensive modelling framework that links diverse pipe model categories to specific ...

On the Zariski-Lipman conjecture for normal algebraic surfaces [PDF]
We consider the Zariski-Lipman Conjecture on free module of derivations for algebraic surfaces. Using the theory of non-complete algebraic surfaces, and some basic results about ruled surfaces, we will prove the conjecture for several classes of affine and projective surfaces.

Abstract In this study, the approximate three‐term (3 T) one‐dimensional (1D) vertical infiltration equation by Valiantzas (3 T‐V) and the 3 T approximate infiltration equation of the quasi‐exact implicit (QEI) Haverkamp equation (3T‐R) by Rahmati et al. for both direct and inverse modelling of water infiltration into soils were evaluated.

This research work explains a sliding mode controller‐based multilevel inverter for grid integrated photovoltaic (PV) power structure. A gravitational search algorithm (GSA) based on maximum power point tracking (MPPT) has also been discussed for optimal PV power achievement.

Algebraic hyperbolicity of surfaces in Fano threefolds with Picard number one [PDF]
In this paper, we study the algebraic hyperbolicity of very general surfaces in general Fano threefolds with Picard number one. We completely classify the algebraically hyperbolicity of those surfaces, except for surfaces in weighted hypersurfaces.

Analysis of image formation in optical palpation
Optical palpation is an emerging elastography technique that generates images of mechanical stress at the tissue surface, with applications in intraoperative cancer detection. Image formation is simulated using finite element analysis and validated with experiments on silicone phantoms, providing an analysis of trends in detectability, feature ...

Laurent phenomenon algebras arising from surfaces [PDF]
It was shown by Fomin, Shapiro and Thurston that some cluster algebras arise from orientable surfaces. Subsequently, Dupont and Palesi extended this construction to non-orientable surfaces. We link this framework to Lam and Pylyavskyy's Laurent phenomenon algebras, showing that both orientable and non-orientable unpunctured marked surfaces have an ...
