OBSTRUCTIONS TO ALGEBRAIZING TOPOLOGICAL VECTOR BUNDLES
Suppose $X$ is a smooth complex algebraic variety. A necessary condition for a complex topological vector bundle on $X$ (viewed as a complex manifold) to be algebraic is that all Chern classes must be algebraic cohomology classes, that is, lie in the ...

A variety of ordered algebras is a class K of ordered algebras satisfying satisfying a set of inequalities t≤t′. It is shown that a class K of ordered algebras is a variety if K is closed under subalgebras, products, and certain homomorphic images. The process of obtaining a “canonical” ω-completion of an ordered algebra is analyzed and it is shown ...

Algebraic flows on Shimura varieties [PDF]
In this paper we formulate some conjectures about algebraic flows on Shimura varieties. In the first part of the paper we prove the `logarithmic Ax-Lindemann theorem'. We then prove a result concerning the topological closure of the images of totally geodesic subvarieties of symmetric spaces uniformising Shimura varieties. This is a special case of our

On the resolvent of an ideal and some applications
We give an algorithm to compute a resolvent of an algebraic variety without computing its irreducible components; we decompose the radical of an ideal into prime ideals and we test the primality of a regular ideal.

An extremely rare type of organic biluminescent emission is reported that consists of delayed emission resulting from both the fluorescence (multi‐resonance thermally activated delayed fluorescence) and phosphorescence spectra at room temperature, and the lifetimes of the two processes exhibit opposing dependence with temperature.

On solving norm equations in global function fields
The potential of solving norm equations is crucial for a variety of applications of algebraic number theory, especially in cryptography. In this article we develop general effective methods for that task in global function fields for the first time.
