Caring labor and the affective economy in the making of the Caribbean
Abstract This article is a reflection on early colonial industries as caring labor rather than just commodity production or resistance. We draw on Indigenous philosophies of relations and Amazonian ontologies to foreground care and frame the Caribbean material record.

Forest plots in Amazonia are often assumed to be undisturbed, but recent work suggests that past people can affect modern vegetation composition in the form of ecological legacies. We investigated the past fire and vegetation history of the Yasuní Forest Dynamics plot and compared that to other forest plots in northwestern Amazonia.

Assessing the accuracy of distance‐ and interview‐based measures of hunting pressure
Accurate sustainability models for hunting of mammal populations require a spatially explicit measure of hunting pressure. Hunting pressure across a landscape can be accurately predicted from remote sensing, participatory mapping, and terrain characteristics.
