Algorithmic Experts: Selling Algorithmic Lore on YouTube [PDF]

open access: yesSocial Media + Society, 2020
This article considers the growing influence of self-styled algorithmic “experts.” Experts build valuable brands, accumulate notoriety, and piece together careers by selling theorizations of algorithmic visibility on YouTube to aspiring and established creators.

Integration of single‐cell and bulk RNA‐sequencing data reveals the prognostic potential of epithelial gene markers for prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is a leading malignancy with significant clinical heterogeneity in men. An 11‐gene signature derived from dysregulated epithelial cell markers effectively predicted biochemical recurrence‐free survival in patients who underwent radical surgery or radiotherapy.

Impact of flexible noise control (FNC) image processing parameters on portable chest radiography

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract There is a lack of understanding in the performance of flexible noise control (FNC) processing, which is used in digital radiography on a scanner vendor and has four parameters each involving multiple options. The aim of this study was to investigate the impact of FNC on portable chest imaging. An anthropomorphic chest phantom was imaged using

Weighted graph algorithms with Python [PDF]

open access: yesThe Python Papers 11, 3 (2016), 2015
Python implementation of selected weighted graph algorithms is presented. The minimal graph interface is defined together with several classes implementing this interface. Graph nodes can be any hashable Python objects. Directed edges are instances of the Edge class. Graphs are instances of the Graph class.

An Improved QSPR Modeling of Hydrocarbon Dipole Moments

open access: yesThe Scientific World Journal, 2004
Dipole moments of hydrocarbons are not an easy property to model with conventional 2D descriptors. A comparison of the performance of the most commonly used sets of topological descriptors is presented, each set containing descriptors derived from the ...

MET variants with activating N‐lobe mutations identified in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinomas still require ligand stimulation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
MET variants in the N‐lobe of the kinase domain, found in hereditary papillary renal cell carcinoma, require ligand stimulation to promote cell transformation, in contrast to other RTK variants. This suggests that HGF expression in the microenvironment is important for tumor growth in such patients. Their sensitivity to MET inhibitors opens the way for

Volume staging for arteriovenous malformation SRS treatment using VMAT

open access: yesJournal of Applied Clinical Medical Physics, Volume 23, Issue 12, December 2022., 2022
Abstract Volume staging involves dividing the target volume into smaller parts and treating each part separately. In this study, the feasibility of volume‐staged stereotactic radiosurgery (VS‐SRS) on a linear accelerator using volumetric modulated arc therapy (VMAT) and a frameless patient positioning system is investigated.

Hedging Algorithms and Repeated Matrix Games [PDF]

open access: yesWorkshop of the European Conference on Machine Learning on Machine Learning and Data Mining in and around Games, 2011, 2018
Playing repeated matrix games (RMG) while maximizing the cumulative returns is a basic method to evaluate multi-agent learning (MAL) algorithms. Previous work has shown that $UCB$, $M3$, $S$ or $Exp3$ algorithms have good behaviours on average in RMG. Besides, hedging algorithms have been shown to be effective on prediction problems.
