Glassy Carbon Electrode Modified with Alizarin Red S as a Working Electrode for the Analysis of Cobalt in Water and Hair Using Adsorptive Stripping Voltammetry

open access: yesInternational Journal of Electrochemical Science, 2019
In the present work, glassy carbon electrode (GCE) modified with Alizarin Red S (ARS) was employed for the determination of cobalt in waters and human hair by square wave cathodic adsorptive stripping voltammetry (SW-CASV).

Caveolin‐1 enriched apoptotic bodies derived from oral hard palate orchestrate bone remodeling to treat heterotopic ossification

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
Downregulated CAV1 in HO is restored via apoptotic bodies from PMSCs, which reprogram bone remodeling by delivering CAV1 to target cells, highlighting the therapeutic role of EV subtypes in heterotopic ossification. Abstract Heterotopic ossification (HO) is a pathological process characterized by ectopic bone formation in non‐osseous tissues, with an ...

Multifunctional polycaprolactone‐based composite fibers with icariin and glutathione for effective repair of critical‐sized bone defects

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
A multifunctional PCL‐based scaffold co‐delivering Icariin and Glutathione synergistically enhances osteogenesis, angiogenesis, and oxidative stress resistance, achieving near‐complete repair of critical‐sized bone defects in vivo. This cell‐free platform represents a promising strategy for accelerated bone regeneration.

Glass eels and viruses – a lesson learnt from stocking the eastern German Baltic Sea coast

open access: yesTransboundary and Emerging Diseases, Accepted Article., 2022
Abstract Concerns about Anguillid herpesvirus 1 (AngHV‐1) in European eels, especially due to stocking measures, is increasingly coming into focus and raises questions regarding disease monitoring and prevention. In the past, stocking of AngHV‐1‐positive eels into waters assumed AngHV‐1‐free has led to a rapid increase of infected eels in the wild. For

Immediate and Delayed Impacts of Alizarin Red S Dye on Salmo trutta Fry: Physiological and Fitness Responses

open access: yesFishes
The application of alizarin dye for the marking of fish is a widely adopted practice in post-stocking monitoring programmes. Nevertheless, concerns regarding the welfare implications of alizarin staining persist.

Nacre‐inspired layered composite with excellent mechanical support and osteogenic potential for cervical interbody cage

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The cervical interbody cage needs to take both biomechanical and biological requirements into account. Here, a new‐style degradable, multicomponent, and bioinspired nacre‐like cervical interbody cage composite, which exhibits promising mechanical‐support‐related behavior and osteogenesis‐related potential, is designed and prepared.

Green Chemistry for Removing Alizarin Red S Dye

open access: yesJOURNAL OF UNIVERSITY OF BABYLON for Pure and Applied Sciences
The current work utilizes the peel and pulp of the Iraqi eggplant to remove Alizarin Red S dye (ARS) from an aqueous solution. The isotherms of adsorption were studied and the factors that the effect them: temperature, the effect of surface nature and effect of ionic strength.

Hyperbranched poly‐L‐lysine surface‐engineered bioprosthetic heart valves with anti‐calcification, anti‐infection, and durability

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
The challenges of bioprosthetic heart valves (BHV) with respect to calcification, infection, and poor durability are tackled by surface engineering of hyperbranched poly‐L‐lysine (HBPL), providing a translational solution to improve long‐term valve performance.

Inclusion Complexations of Levamisole and Cocaine With Molecular Baskets. Fluorescence Displacement Assay for Detection of Cocaine and Its Adulterant Levamisole in Aqueous Media

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
Levamisole is a common adulterant found in street‐distributed cocaine. Molecular baskets have been shown to form stable inclusion complexes with both substances. While levamisole inserts its benzene into the basket's cavity, cocaine utilizes its bicyclic ring for encapsulation.

A Convenient Strategy for the Voltammetric Direct Determination of Ce(III) in Environmental Waters Using a Multi-Walled Carbon Nanotubes Modified Screen-Printed Carbon Electrode

open access: yesMolecules
A simple and fast stripping voltammetric procedure for trace determination of Ce(III) in environmental water samples has been developed. The procedure of cerium determination in the presence of Alizarin S and acetate buffer was employed as the initial ...
