Alkali Activated Cementitious Materials: An Overview
MRS Proceedings, 1991ABSTRACTAlkali-activated cementitious materials have considerable potential, with properties ranging from very high early strength to very high long term strength and low porosity. The role of alkalis in activating industrial by-products such as ground granulated (glassy) blast-furnace slag, ultra-fine silica fume or other by-product silicas, glassy ...

Geopolymers and Related Alkali-Activated Materials
Annual Review of Materials Research, 2014The development of new, sustainable, low-CO2 construction materials is essential if the global construction industry is to reduce the environmental footprint of its activities, which is incurred particularly through the production of Portland cement.

Application of Micromechanics on Alkali-Activated Materials
Advances in Science and Technology, 2010Research of alkali-activated materials has been a traditional domain of chemists. This paper exploits contribution of micromechanics to the subject. A new model for volumetric evolution of chemical phases is formulated. The first homogenization level identifies elasticity on the scale of N-A-S-H gel.

A synopsis of carbonation of alkali-activated materials
Green Materials, 2019Carbonation in concrete is the formation of calcium carbonate (CaCO3) in the binder by a chemical reaction. It results when ions of carbonate from dissolved carbon dioxide (CO2) react with calcium ions (Ca+) in the binder and precipitate calcium carbonate.
