Silver-Activated Alkali Halides

The Journal of Chemical Physics, 1954
The emission, excitation, and absorption spectra of silver-activated alkali halides have been investigated. Three absorption bands due to ionic silver have been observed in NaCl, NaBr, KCl, and KBr, and the growth of these bands with silver concentration has been studied.

Fracture properties of alkali activated mortars

Proceedings of the 10th International Conference on Fracture Mechanics of Concrete and Concrete Structures, 2019
In this paper, three different coal fly ash-based alkali activated mortars are studied. The three different mortars are obtained using the same binding system but different types (i.e. silica sand or expanded perlite) and sizes of aggregates. Small-scale beams are constructed together with additional specimens for material characterization.

Collagenolytic Activity of Alkali-Burned Corneas

Archives of Ophthalmology, 1969
Collagenolytic activity of alkali-burned corneas of rabbits was investigated using a tissue-culture assay technique. The technique was standardized, and in every instance, tissues from the immediate vicinity of the ulcers or perforations showed substantial collagenase production, while generally, tissues more than 2 mm away from the lesions were free ...

Decalcification resistance of alkali-activated slag

Journal of Hazardous Materials, 2012
This paper analyses the effects of decalcification in concentrated 6M NH(4)NO(3) solution on mechanical and microstructural properties of alkali-activated slag (AAS). Portland-slag cement (CEM II/A-S 42.5 N) was used as a benchmark material. Decalcification process led to a decrease in strength, both in AAS and in CEM II, and this effect was more ...

Alkali activated clay mortars with different activators

Construction and Building Materials, 2019
Abstract The purpose of this study was to develop alkali activated earthen materials with enhanced physical and mechanical properties. Specifically, clay mortars were produced, by using various alkaline activators of different pH (values 11–14). The specimens were cured in certain conditions.
