Coherent lamellar intergrowth in alkali feldspar [PDF]

open access: yesContributions To Mineralogy and Petrology, 2023
AbstractA thermodynamic analysis of coherent lamellar intergrowth resulting from the exsolution of initially homogeneous alkali feldspar is presented. In contrast to earlier treatments, where the simplifying assumption of zero strain in the lamellar interfaces was used, our treatment is more general.

Diffusion-controlled crack propagation in alkali feldspar. [PDF]

open access: yesPhys Chem Miner, 2019
The chemically driven propagation of interacting parallel cracks in monoclinic alkali feldspar was studied experimentally. Single crystals of potassium-rich gem-quality sanidine were shifted towards more sodium-rich compositions by cation exchange with a NaCl-KCl salt melt at a temperature of 850 ∘ C and close to ambient pressure.

Effect of chemically induced fracturing on the ice nucleation activity of alkali feldspar [PDF]

open access: yesAtmospheric Chemistry and Physics, 2021
Feldspar is an important constituent of airborne mineral dust. Some alkali feldspars exhibit particularly high ice nucleation (IN) activity. This has been related to structural similarities of the ice (101‾0) prism planes and the (100) planes of alkali ...

Chemically induced fracturing in alkali feldspar [PDF]

open access: yesPhysics and Chemistry of Minerals, 2013
Fracturing in alkali feldspar during Na-K cation exchange with a NaCl-KCl salt melt was studied experimentally. Due to a marked composition dependence of the lattice parameters of alkali feldspar, any composition gradient arising from cation exchange causes coherency stress. If this stress exceeds a critical level fracturing occurs.

Geochronology and geochemistry of the Shanagen hydrothermal vein-type Mo deposit in Derbugan metallogenic belt of the NE China and their geological significance

open access: yesFrontiers in Earth Science, 2023
The Shanagen hydrothermal vein-type Mo deposit belongs to the Derbugan metallogenic belt, which is located in the Ergun block, NE China. The Mo mineralization is mainly developed in sericitized quartz siltstone around alkali-feldspar granite.
