A New Family of Ternary Intermetallic Compounds with Dualistic Atomic Ordering – The ZIP Phases
The ZIP phases are ternary intermetallic compounds with dualistic atomic ordering, i.e., they exhibit one face‐centered cubic (fcc; space group Fd3¯$\bar 3$m) variant and one hexagonal (space group P63/mmc) variant. The ZIP phases in the Nb‐Si‐Ni system are the Nb3SiNi2 (fcc) and Ni3SiNb2 (hexagonal) ternary IMCs, crystal structure schematics of which ...

Designable ultra-smooth ultra-thin solid-electrolyte interphases of three alkali metal anodes
The dendrite growth of alkali metal anodes leads to charge/discharge cycling instability. Here, the authors show that electrochemical polishing can yield near-perfect anodes of three alkali metals by constructing smooth and thin solid-electrolyte ...

Leveraging the numerous advantages of ammonium‐ion (NH₄⁺)—including cost‐effectiveness, low corrosiveness, preferential orientation, and rapid diffusion kinetics—aqueous NH₄⁺ batteries (AAIBs) have gained significant attention. This review highlights and evaluates the progress of AAIBs utilizing organic electrode materials such as small molecules ...

Development and character of gap states on alkali doping of molecular films
Here we study the alkali metal induced effects on an ordered and aligned sexiphenyl monolayer on Cu(110) with angle-resolved UV spectroscopy (ARUPS). The caesium (Cs) induced gap states could clearly be identified by orbital tomography, a method based on

Shapeshifting Liquid Metal Droplets for Soft Fluidic Machines
This study presented a liquid metal shape shifting strategy which harnesses Lorentz force, surface tension and fluid instabilities to achieve autonomous fluidic power. By using a liquid metal droplet as a mobile current carrier, this strategy enables the development of low‐voltage, self‐oscillating pumps that outperform existing soft pumps.

POM‐Based Water Splitting Catalyst Under Acid Conditions Driven by Its Assembly on Carbon Nanotubes
A newly‐engineered POM‐based electrocatalyst incorporating non‐innocent counter cations exhibits fast kinetics for either the OER or HER under strongly acidic conditions (1 m H2SO4), depending on whether it is assembled on carbon nanotubes (1@CNT) or physically mixed with them (1/CNT). In water‐splitting tests using a two‐electrode setup, these systems
