Acid and alkali treatment of kaolins
Clay Minerals, 2009AbstractTwo kaolins containing kaolinites of different crystallinity, as confirmed by the Aparicio-Galán-Ferrell index, were treated in HCl and KOH solutions at 95º and 80ºC, respectively, for periods up to 36 h. Changes resulting from the treatments have been characterized by several methods.

Tailoring the morphology through alkali treatment: Dynamics of pattern formation
Materials Science and Technology, 2020Diversified technological applications necessitate the tailoring of morphology of materials at nanoscale. This paper reports morphological modifications of boron carbide (BC) at nanoscale through alkali (NaOH) treatment. The multilayered hollow microspheres of BC, obtained by the refluxion of castor oil with boric acid, are subjected to exfoliation by

ALKALIS IN THE TREATMENT OF INFLUENZA
JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1918To the Editor: —The note inThe Journal, October 26, by Dr. T. C. Ely on the treatment of influenza is timely, as the present generation has been prone to rely on the coal tar derivatives and acetylsalicylic acid: remedies more comforting than curative in this disease.

Integrated Alkali-Electrochemical Process for Wastewater Treatment
ECS Meeting Abstracts, 2020Solid waste mismanagement causes environmental contamination. Sewage sludge is the byproduct of the wastewater treatment process and contains pathogenic organisms (e.g Salmonella spp., Escherichia coli, etc.). Anaerobic digestion is widely used for sewage sludge treatment.

Alkali Treatment of Green Bacterial Chlorosomes
1998Green sulfur bacteria and green filamentous bacteria use a structurally and functionally similar light-harvesting apparatus called the chlorosome (1). Within a lipid monolayer envelope the chlorosome contains thousands of bacteriochlorophylls (BChl) c, d or e.

TOXICOLOGICAL ASPECTS OF ALKALI TREATMENT OF FOOD PROTEINS
1978Rats fed alkali-treated food proteins may develop nephrocytomegaly (NC). Lysinoalanine [LAL], an unusual amino acid formed in proteins during alkali-treatment, is the main causative factor. Whether NC occurs, seems, however, less dependent on the dietary level than on factors such as animal species, feeding period, chemical form of LAL, type and ...

Review article: The alkali treatment of straws
Animal Feed Science and Technology, 1977Abstract The Beckmann method of alkali treatment consists of soaking straw in dilute alkali solutions for 24 hours and then washing it with clean water. Straw digestibility is increased from about 40 to about 70%. While this process has been known for 50 years, it has not been much used because treatment costs are too high.
