Thiophosphorylation of Alkaline Phosphatase

Nature New Biology, 1973
ALKALINE phosphatase from Escherichia coli has been reported to be phosphorylated by a phosphate ester substrate1, a particular feature being that only one of two potentially active sites appeared to be phosphorylated at any one time. Binding studies with inorganic phosphate have shown there is one high affinity and a second low affinity site at pH 8 ...

The Serum Alkaline Phosphatase

JAMA: The Journal of the American Medical Association, 1968
The alkaline phosphatases constitute a large group of enzymes of low specificity that are involved in the hydrolysis of phosphate monoesters at a pH of about 9. They also play important roles in the transport of sugar and phosphate in the intestinal mucosa, kidney tubule, placenta, and bones.

Intestinal Alkaline Phosphatase-Like Properties of Horse Kidney Alkaline Phosphatase

Enzyme, 1983
Two isoenzymes of alkaline phosphatase from horse kidney were identified by cellulose acetate electrophoresis. Horse kidney alkaline phosphatase was similar to horse intestinal alkaline phosphatase, in regard to both antigenicity and response to levamisole inhibition, but different from horse liver alkaline phosphatase.

Alkaline Phosphatase and Hyperthyroidism

Annals of Internal Medicine, 1979
Excerpt To the editor: Dr. Cooper and colleagues mention in their recent article "Alkaline Phosphatase Isoenzyme Patterns in Hyperthyroidism" in the February issue (1), that "bone healing in patien...

Multisystemic Functions of Alkaline Phosphatases

2013
Human and mouse alkaline phosphatases (AP) are encoded by a multigene family expressed ubiquitously in multiple tissues. Gene knockout (KO) findings have helped define some of the precise exocytic functions of individual isozymes in bone, teeth, the central nervous system, and in the gut.

Site of alkaline phosphatase attachment in alkaline phosphatase-immunoglobulin G complexes

Clinica Chimica Acta, 1981
Sera containing the rare alkaline phosphatase-immunoglobulin G complex were studied to try to determine the type of interaction involved. Pepsin and papain digestion of immunoglobulin G showed that alkaline phosphatase was attached to the F(ab')2 region of the immunoglobulin molecule and not to the Fc region.
