Metabolic characterization of alkane monooxygenases and the growth phenotypes of Pseudomonas aeruginosa ATCC 33988 on hydrocarbons

open access: yesJournal of Bacteriology
There is a demand and widespread interest in evaluating microbial community structures and metabolic processes in hydrocarbon environments. The current work aims to detect microbial subgroups (phenotypic subsets) and their metabolic processes, such as ...

Wearable OLED‐Assisted Photodynamic Cancer Therapy Using Chlorin e6‐Loaded Pluronic Nanocapsules as Photosensitizers

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A novel photodynamic therapeutic approach has been employed for anticancer therapy, utilizing chlorin e6‐loaded Pluronic nanocapsules and a wearable organic light‐emitting diode light source. This has shown significant in vivo antitumor efficacy with minimal off‐target toxicity. The innovative combination of a wearable light source and photosensitizers

A Novel Drug‐Loaded Porous Parylene Electrode for Targeted Anti‐Inflammatory Therapy and Hearing Preservation in Cochlear Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
A porous parylene‐coated electrode loaded with dexamethasone was developed to reduce inflammation after cochlear implantation. In guinea pigs, the device provided sustained drug release, maintained biocompatibility, improved auditory brainstem response thresholds, and reduced inflammatory cell infiltration and TNF‐α expression.

Silicone Breast Implants as a Model System for Understanding Polymer Permeation in Soft Materials In Vivo

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Silicone breast implants are presented as a model system for understanding polymer permeation in vivo. Rather than representing material failure, “gel bleed” emerges from solution–diffusion transport‐mediated. By integrating polymer architecture, physicochemical transport, and biointerfacial processes, this review provides a unified framework that ...

Thermophilic Hadarchaeota grow on long-chain alkanes in syntrophy with methanogens

open access: yesNature Communications
Methanogenic hydrocarbon degradation can be carried out by archaea that couple alkane oxidation directly to methanogenesis, or by syntrophic associations of bacteria with methanogenic archaea.

Mixed‐Metal Promotion in a Manganese‐Molybdenum Oxynitride as Catalyst to Integrate C─C and C─N Coupling Reactions for the Direct Synthesis of Acetonitrile from Syngas and Ammonia

open access: yesAdvanced Materials, EarlyView.
Transition metal oxy/carbo‐nitrides show great promise as catalysts for sustainable processes. A Mn‐Mo mixed‐metal oxynitride attains remarkable performance for the direct synthesis of acetonitrile, an important commodity chemical, via sequential C─N and C─C coupling from syngas (C1) and ammonia (N1) feedstocks.
