Infrared spectra of alkanesulfonic acids, chlorosulfonated polyethylene, and their derivatives

Journal of Applied Polymer Science, 1965
The infrared spectra of methane, n-butane-, and n-dodecane-sulfonic acids, their esters, alkali metal, silver and amine salts, amides, and chlorides are compared with analogous structures derived from chlorinated and chlorosulfonated polyethylenes. The Bellamy and William's linear relationship between vSO2 (asym.) and vSO2 (sym.) is valid for both the ...

Synthesis of three partially fluorinated alkanesulfonic acids as potential fuel-cell electrolytes

Journal of Chemical & Engineering Data, 1981
The sknpie and effective syntheses of CH2FCH2SOSH, CF,CH$O,H, and CHF2CFzCH2S03H have been achieved with 18.8%, 34.1%, and 33.7% overall yleids. The low molecular weighl partlaly fluorlnated aikanesuifonlc aclds containing a-methyiene groups can be prepared from the p-toluemsulfonates of the correspondlng alcohols, via a reaction with benzyl mercaptan,

4,5‐Dihydro‐5‐thioxo‐]H‐tetrazoie‐l‐alkanoic and alkanesulfonic acids and their amide derivatives

Journal of Heterocyclic Chemistry, 1978
AbstractHomologous 4,5‐dihydro‐5‐thioxo‐1H‐tetrazole‐l‐alkanoic and alkanesulfonic acids were prepared by reaction of sodium azide with methyl (carboxyalkyl)‐ and (sulfoalkyl) carbamodithioates, respectively. 4,5‐Dihydro‐5‐thioxo‐1H‐tetrazole‐i‐alkanamides were derived from the corresponding alkanoic acids by aminolysis of their acid chlorides or ...

Self-Assembled Monolayers of Alkanesulfonic and -phosphonic Acids on Amorphous Iron Oxide Nanoparticles

Langmuir, 1999
We have functionalized amorphous Fe2O3 nanoparticles with alkanesulfonic and octadecanephosphonic acids. TEM reveals nanoparticles 5−10 nm in diameter. FTIR spectra suggest that while in all cases the alkyl chains are packed in a solid-like arrangement, packing disorder increased with decreasing chain length.
