[Nutritional recommendations and risk of death from all causes].

This study evaluated the relationship between meeting the Nutrition Recommendations and mortality from all causes in a cohort of 1,623 men from the Quebec City area followed from 1985 to 1991. The usual dietary intake was assessed by a self-administered semi-quantitative food frequency questionnaire.

Cardiovascular Risk Factors Predicting All Causes of Death in an Occupational Population Sample

A group of 768 men aged 40-59 at entry examination and belonging to an occupational sample of railroad employees in Rome have been examined for the measurement of some risk factors and followed-up for 20 years. In all 676 men, free from life-threatening diseases and with all measurements available, produced 166 fatal events in 20 years.

Obesity and physical inactivity are both associated with illness and death. A review of the literature has shown that the objectively measured level of fitness and self-reported physical activity both have a prognostic relationship with death from all causes, independently of BMI.
