Asymptomatic polyvascular disease and the risks of cardiovascular events and all-cause death
Atherosclerosis, 2017Atherosclerosis is a diffuse and systemic disease. We aimed to assess prevalence and outcome of extracoronary polyvascular disease (polyVD) in the asymptomatic Chinese community population.A random sample of 5440 participants aged 40 years or older were enrolled in the Asymptomatic Polyvascular Abnormalities Community Study from 2010 to 2011 ...

All-Cause and Cancer-Specific Death of Older Adults Following Surgery for Cancer
JAMA Surgery, 2021Cancer care has inherent complexities in older adults, including balancing risks of cancer and noncancer death. A poor understanding of cause-specific outcomes may lead to overtreatment and undertreatment. To examine all-cause and cancer-specific death throughout 5 years for older adults after cancer resection. This population-based cohort study was ...

SummaryCardiovascular disease (CVD) involves the second cause of death in low‐risk myelodysplastic syndrome (MDS) population. Prospective study to characterise the CVD and to identify predictors for the combined event (CE) cardiovascular event and/or all‐cause mortality in transfusion dependent low‐risk MDS patients.

A systematic review of global autopsy rates in all-cause mortality and young sudden death
Heart Rhythm, 2023Autopsy is the gold standard method for determining cause of death. Young sudden death (SD) is a prototype condition in which autopsy is universally recommended. The aim of this review was to quantify real-world global rates of autopsy in either all-cause death or young SD. A systematic review was conducted.

The diet and all-causes death rate in the Seven Countries Study.
Lancet (London, England), 1981Among 12 763 men aged 0-59, 1512 died in ten years, 413 from coronary heart disease. The 16 cohorts differed in all-causes as well as in coronary death rate. Those differences were not related to cohort differences in age, relative weight, activity, smoking habits, or percentage calories from total proteins or fats in the diet but were related to ...
