Dielectric Barrier Discharge Plasma Deoxidation of Natively Oxide Layer of Copper Powders in a Fluidized Bed

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This paper presents a novel approach to reducing oxide layers on metal powders using low‐temperature hydrogen dielectric barrier discharge plasmas at atmospheric pressure. Unlike conventional hydrogen‐plasma reductions, the powders do not contact the plasma directly.

An Adaptive Use Strategy for Solid-State Lasers by Combining Maximum Likelihood Estimation With Model Predictive Control

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
Solid-state lasers are widely applied in various fields, such as material processing, laser marking, and remote sensing. Long lifetime is always required for commercial solid-state lasers in practice.

Efficient metallic spintronic emitters of ultrabroadband terahertz radiation

open access: yes, 2016
Terahertz electromagnetic radiation is extremely useful for numerous applications such as imaging and spectroscopy. Therefore, it is highly desirable to have an efficient table-top emitter covering the 1-to-30-THz window whilst being driven by a low-cost,

Deterministic Detection of Single Ion Implantation

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
Focused ion beam implantation with high detection efficiencies will enable the rapid and scalable fabrication of advanced spin‐based technologies such as qubits. This work presents the detection efficiencies of a wide range of ions implanted into solid‐state hosts, with efficiencies of >90% recorded for ion species and substrate combinations of ...

Quantum register based on structured diamond waveguide with NV centers

open access: yes, 2012
We propose a scheme of quantum information processing with NV-centers embedded inside diamond nanostructure. Single NV-center placed in the cavity plays role of an electron spin qubit which evolution is controlled by microwave pulses. Besides, it couples

Surface Tension Measurement of Ti‐6Al‐4V by Falling Droplet Method in Oxygen‐Free Atmosphere

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
In this article, the temperature‐dependent surface tension of free falling, oscillating Ti‐6Al‐4V droplets is investigated in both argon and monosilane doped, oxygen‐free atmosphere. Droplet temperature and oscillation are captured with one single high‐speed camera, and the surface tension is calculated with Rayleigh's formula.

Garnet-Type Li7La3Zr2O12Solid Electrolyte Thin Films Grown by CO2-Laser Assisted CVD for All-Solid-State Batteries

open access: yes, 2017
The detailed characterization of garnet-type Li-ion conducting Li7La3Zr2O12 (LLZO) solid electrolyte thin films grown by novel CO2-laser assisted chemical vapor deposition (LA-CVD) is reported. A deposition process parameter study reveals that an optimal

Creating Ti–Fe α/β Alloys by Diffusion‐Driven Solid‐State Processing

open access: yesAdvanced Engineering Materials, EarlyView.
This study proposes making alloys containing fast diffusing elements that are difficult to produce by ingot metallurgy, by diffusion‐driven solid‐state HIP processing of elemental powders and low‐temperature homogenisation. Here, novel Fe‐Ti α–β alloys are formed having fine α–β lamellae, a small β prior grain size without significant intermetallics ...

High-Power Single-Frequency Continuous-Wave Tunable 1064/532 nm Dual-Wavelength Laser

open access: yesMicromachines
A high-power single-frequency continuous-wave wideband continuously tunable dual-wavelength laser at 1064/532 nm is presented in this paper. Firstly, a thermally insensitive cavity containing a type-I phase-matching LiB3O5 crystal and an uncoated quartz ...
