Annealing studies of fission tracks in allanite

Contributions to Mineralogy and Petrology, 1975
The annealing characteristics of fission tracks in allanite have been studied. All the tracks in the mineral fade at 720° C for one hour heating. The activation energy of allanite ranges from 1.4 to 3.4 eV.

Low-2V allanite and Mg-bearing allanite from the Kallmorberg mine, Norberg, Sweden

Geologiska Föreningen i Stockholm Förhandlingar, 1975
Abstract Two varieties of allanite have been found in the Kallmorberg iron mine. Some optical data and the d-spacings of the specimens are given. Both allanites are completely unaltered and no metamictization has occurred, in spite of their Precambrian age. The content of radioactive elements is low. The rare-earth elements in the skarn rock containing

Allanite pegmatites, Red Rock, Nevada compared with allanite pegmatites in southern Nevada and California

Economic Geology, 1962
Small irregularly shaped aplitic allanite pegmatite bodies occurring near the contacts of a larger aplitic body with granodiorite are described. Allanite represents a considerable part of the pegmatite, is equally distributed, and can be regarded as a major constituent.

Th-Pb ion-microprobe dating of allanite

American Mineralogist, 2000
Allanite, which is a common accessory mineral in a wide variety of rock types, typically contains high concentrations of Th and U; thus, an in-situ method of U-Th-Pb dating of this phase would have broad application. We describe a method to permit Th-Pb ages of allanite to be determined with approximately ±10% accuracy using a high-resolution ion ...

Ion-probe determination of rare earths in allanite

Chemical Geology, 1985
Abstract The epidote-group mineral allanite is characterised by a total RE content in the region of 20 wt.%, with light RE much more abundant than heavy. Only a few of the RE in allanite are within the range of electron-probe analysis, hence the determination of the complete abundance pattern has hitherto required physical separation and bulk ...

IR spectroscopical characteristics of metamict allanite-(Ce)

Geologica Macedonica, 2012
Metamict samples of allanite-(Ce) were recrystallized in hydrothermal conditions at 150°C for 2, 5 and 24 h. The recrystallization of metamict samples was rapid and complete, without the appearance of additional phases when heated for 2 and 5 h, but when heated for 24 h, the structure is disturbed.
