Microplastic and drought influence the positive effect of plant diversity on plant biomass production

open access: yesJournal of Ecology, Volume 114, Issue 1, January 2026.
Microplastic and drought influenced plant diversity–biomass relationships in a glasshouse grassland experiment. Microplastic reduced the shoot biomass of grasses and legumes, weakening the positive selection effects. In contrast, drought strongly suppressed the shoot biomass of legumes, resulting in negative complementarity and a negative net diversity

Weed Control with Straw Residues in Occasional Direct Seeding of Faba Bean (Vicia faba sp.) in Organic Agriculture [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
In order to gain momentum in the consolidation process of no-tillage systems in Europe’s Organic Agriculture, occasional direct seeding (DS) of faba bean (FAB) into a mulch layer of residues from precrop oats should be scrutinized.

Assessment of the Habitat, Health and Recruitment of Two Critically Endangered Eucalyptus Species—E. yarraensis and E. StrzeleckIi—in Southeastern Australia

open access: yesEcological Management &Restoration, Volume 27, Issue 1, January 2026.
ABSTRACT Eucalyptus yarraensis (Yarra gum) and Eucalyptus strzeleckii (Strzelecki gum) are critically endangered species endemic to Victoria, Australia. This study assessed habitat characteristics, tree health and sapling recruitment of E. yarraensis and E. strzeleckii across their geographic range.

Relationship Between Allelopathic Effects and Functional Traits of Different Allelopathic Potential Rice Accessions at Different Growth Stages

open access: yesRice Science, 2018
In this study, effects of temperature, light and their interactions on allelopathic effects and the functional traits specific leaf area (SLA) and stem mass fraction (SMF) of different allelopathic potential rice accessions at different growth stages ...

Combination of Spatial and Temporal Diversification in European Cropping Systems [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
There is a lack of results on the advantages and limitations of combining different crop diversification strategies both in time and space, which makes it difficult for famers and advisers to find relevant information for the transition towards more ...

Mobility promotes and jeopardizes biodiversity in rock-paper-scissors games [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Biodiversity is essential to the viability of ecological systems. Species diversity in ecosystems is promoted by cyclic, non-hierarchical interactions among competing populations.

Acacia holosericea (Fabaceae) litter has allelopathic and physical effects on mission grass (Cenchrus pedicellatus and C. polystachios) (Poaceae) seedling establishment [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
Invasion of grass weeds is a major threat for ecosystems. Mission grass (Cenchrus pedicellatus and C. polystachios) vigorously competes with native vegetation and has become a serious problem in northern Australian savanna.

Cereal variety and population selection [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
This research review notes that cereal variety breeding in the last 50 years has been based on pedigree line bred varieties as part of the development of a production system dependent on oil-based inputs.
