Long‐Term Real‐World Effectiveness of Rupatadine in Chronic Urticaria: A Retrospective Observational Study

open access: yesJEADV Clinical Practice, EarlyView.
This retrospective observational study analyzed a cohort of chronic urticaria (CU) patients to provide insight into the clinical practice of CU with second‐generation antihistamines (SgAHs) and to evaluate the long‐term real‐world effectiveness of rupatadine in CU. Patients with chronic spontaneous urticaria (CSU) and chronic inducible urticaria (CIndU)

Six Injections of Modified Adjuvanted PQ Grass Is Effective and Well‐Tolerated in a Pivotal Phase III Trial

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
A pivotal Phase III DBPC adaptive trial was conducted with PQ Grass 27600 SU. The primary endpoint EAACI‐CSMS0–6 demonstrated a highly significant, clinically meaningful improvement for PQ Grass of −0.27 points (95% CI: −0.42 to −0.12), corresponding to a relative difference of −20.3% (p = 0.0005) over placebo. Highly consistent secondary endpoints and

The Role of IgE in Crohn's Disease by Impairing the Capacity of Plasmacytoid Dendritic Cells to Generate FOXP3+ Tregs

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
We uncover an unprecedented role for IgE in CD. CD patients, regardless of allergic status and similar to allergic patients, display higher levels of circulating IgE+ and FcεRI+ immune cells, including pDCs, which are concomitant to fewer Tregs. In vitro experiments show that the anti‐IgE monoclonal antibody omalizumab restores the ability of pDCs from

Recombinant Hypoallergenic Cat Allergy Vaccines

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
This study reports the construction and preclinical characterization of peptide‐carrier‐based vaccines combining all three important cat allergens (Fel d 1, Fel d 4 and Fel d 7) within single vaccine antigens, termed PreS‐Cat 1‐PreS‐Cat 5. Two subcutaneous immunizations of rabbits with PreS‐Cat 1‐5 induce equal or better antibodies blocking allergic ...

Clinical Benefits of a Randomized Allergy App Intervention in Grass Pollen Sufferers: A Controlled Trial

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
Different functions of an allergy app were tested for clinical benefit in a randomized, controlled trial in patients with grass pollen allergy. Participants with pollen forecast function took more medication and had fewer symptoms than participants without pollen forecast. A symptom forecast was developed based on the study data.

Direct Single‐Dose Drug‐Provocation Test Is Safe for Delabelling Penicillin Low‐Risk Reactions in Adults

open access: yesAllergy, EarlyView.
We show that direct single‐dose provocation test was both safe and effective in delabeling penicillin allergy in low‐risk adult patients, including those with mild delayed skin reactions and those with unknown reactions, such as childhood labels and past syncope episodes. In those who react in the drug provocation test, a T‐cell mechanism was confirmed

Allergic conjunctivitis and conjunctival provocation tests in atopic dogs. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
INTRODUCTION: Canine atopic dermatitis (cAD) is a very common disease, but little is known about eye involvement. The conjunctival provocation test (CPT) is used in human to study the ocular response to allergenic stimuli and to evaluate anti-allergic ...
