Ontogeny of the Appendicular Skeleton inMelanosuchus niger(Crocodylia: Alligatoridae)

Zoological Science, 2016
The objective of the present study was to analyze chondrogenesis and the ossification pattern of the limbs of Melanosuchus niger in order to contribute with possible discussions on homology and the fusion pattern of autopodial elements and phylogeny. In the Reserva Extrativista do Lago Cuniã, Rondônia, Brazil, six nests were marked and two eggs removed

FIRST RECORD OF A POLYSTOME (MONOGENOIDEA: POLYSTOMATIDAE) INFECTING A CROCODILIAN: LATERGATOR LOUISDUPREEZI N. GEN., N. SP. FROM THE EYE OF AN AMERICAN ALLIGATOR, ALLIGATOR MISSISSIPPIENSIS DAUDIN, 1802 (CROCODILIA: ALLIGATORIDAE) IN A NORTH-CENTRAL GULF OF AMERICA SALT MARSH (ROCKEFELLER WILDLIFE

Journal of Parasitology
From July 2021 through June 2024, we necropsied 35 American alligators from Louisiana, Alabama, and South Carolina (including the Gulf of America and Atlantic Ocean river basins). A new polystomatid, Latergater dupreezi n. gen., n. sp. is described based

MALFORMACIÓN CAUDAL EN Caiman crocodilus (ALLIGATORIDAE) EN EL SITIO RAMSAR BARRA DE SANTIAGO, EL SALVADOR

Ultrastructure of the spermatozoon of the American Alligator, Alligator mississippiensis (Reptilia: Alligatoridae)

Journal of Morphology, 2011
AbstractThis study details the ultrastructure of the spermatozoa of the American Alligator, Alligator mississippiensis. American Alligator spermatozoa are filiform and slightly curved. The acrosome is tapered at its anterior end and surrounded by the acrosome vesicle and an underlying subacrosomal cone, which rests just cephalic to the nuclear rostrum.

PREDATION ON Pristimantis pluvian (ANURA: STRABOMANTIDAE) BY Paleosuchus trigonatus (CROCODYLIA: ALLIGATORIDAE) IN THE BRAZILIAN AMAZON

Revista Latinoamericana de Herpetología
Crocodilians are apex predators with a generalist diet, consuming a wide variety of invertebrates and vertebrates. In this study, we describe a predation event of the frog Pristimantis pluvian by a juvenile Paleosuchus trigonatus in the municipality of ...

Morphology of the male reproductive duct system of Caiman crocodilus (Crocodylia, Alligatoridae)

Annals of Anatomy - Anatomischer Anzeiger, 2004
The male reproductive duct system of Caiman crocodilus in different reproductive stages was studied using light and electron microscopy, to determine whether shared morphological features exist between Crocodylia and Aves, in concurrence with the Archosauria hypothesis.

Molecular and functional characterization of BAFF from the Yangtze alligator (Alligator sinensis, Alligatoridae)

Zoology, 2015
B-cell activating factor (BAFF) from the TNF family is critical for B-cell survival and maturation. In this study, we identified a Yangtze alligator (Alligator sinensis, Alligatoridae) BAFF cDNA, designated as asBAFF, using reverse transcription polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) and rapid amplification of cDNA ends (RACE).
