Statistical testing of an allometric centered model of craniofacial growth
American Journal of Orthodontics, 1983An allometric centered model of craniofacial growth was tested by several computer-assisted statistical methods on the pure longitudinal growth data of twenty-four close-bred female rats and on cross-sectional human cranial growth data. The study demonstrated that such a model was heuristic and, being incapable of exact definition, was deemed ...

Density-dependent allometric functional response models
Ecological Modelling, 2015Abstract Functional response models describe the relationship between predators and the rate at which prey are consumed. Traditional models are based on the density of prey and predators. More recently, the role of variables such as predator and prey size have received increased attention.

A discrete, allometric approach to the modeling of ecosystem dynamics
Ecological Modelling, 2000Abstract This work focuses on a special type of generic ecosystem model that allows for the investigation of the dynamics of ecological networks. The emphasis lies on patterns that arise from within the system and their dependency on environmental factors, and the relationship between network structure, organization and performance.

Clinical Pharmacokinetics, 2010
For propofol clearance, allometric scaling has been applied successfully for extrapolations between species (rats and humans) and within the human bodyweight range (children and adults). In this analysis, the human bodyweight range is explored to determine for which range an allometric model with a fixed or estimated exponent can be used to predict ...

Modeling Size-dependent Photosynthesis: Light Absorption and the Allometric Rule
Journal of Theoretical Biology, 2000Microalgal photosynthesis can be predicted using empirical allometric or mechanistic bio-optic models. These two descriptions are usually considered independently. We compare the size scaling of photosynthesis predicted by these two models. Size scaling exponents for phytoplankton often deviate from the allometric 3/4 rule.

Allometric models to measure and analyze the evolution of international research collaboration
Scientometrics, 2016A fundamental problem in the field of the social studies of science is how to measure the patterns of international scientific collaboration to analyse the structure and evolution of scientific fields. This study here confronts the problem by developing an allometric model of morphological changes in order to measure and analyse the relative growth of ...

The investigation of the additive allometric models of biomass
2019When using the unique in terms of the volumes of databases on the level of a stand of Picea and Abies spp., the trans-Eurasian additive allometric models of biomass for Eurasian forests are developed for the first time, and thereby the combined problem of model additivity and generality is solved. The additive model of forest biomass of Picea and Abies
