Predicting extreme defects in additive manufacturing remains a key challenge limiting its structural reliability. This study proposes a statistical framework that integrates Extreme Value Theory with advanced process indicators to explore defect–process relationships and improve the estimation of critical defect sizes. The approach provides a basis for

Residual stresses are inevitably introduced during plate manufacturing and pre-processing (e.g., quenching and pre-stretching). However, springback prediction in creep age forming (CAF) is still frequently carried out by assuming an initially stress-free

Preliminary analysing of experimental data for the development of high Cr Alloy Creep damage Constitutive Equations [PDF]
This conference paper presents the current research of preliminary analysing of experimental data for the development of high Cr Alloy Creep damage Constitutive Equations (such as P91 alloy). Firstly, it briefly introduces the background of general creep

The tribological behavior of 100Cr6 steel spheres textured via Vickers microindentation is evaluated under lubricated sliding by varying both dimple size and density. Fine and dense textures significantly reduce friction across all lubrication regimes, while large dimples increase it.

Laser Powder Bed Fusion of Alumina: Effects of Scanning Strategies on External and Internal Defects
This study investigates how scanning strategies affect pure alumina in laser powder bed fusion. Linear 45° scanning yields uniform surfaces but high porosity, while the island‐concentric strategy provides higher density with through‐holes favorable for infiltration. Findings highlight pathways toward optimizing defect‐free alumina parts.

Strain weakening and superplasticity in a Bi-Sn eutectic alloy processed by high-pressure torsion
High-pressure torsion (HPT) was conducted on disks of a Bi-Sn eutectic alloy under a pressure of 6.0 GPa. The microstructural evolution was studied by scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and electron backscatter diffraction (EBSD). Measurements of Vickers

On Nb Silicide Based Alloys: Alloy Design and Selection [PDF]
The development of Nb-silicide based alloys is frustrated by the lack of composition-process-microstructure-property data for the new alloys, and by the shortage of and/or disagreement between thermodynamic data for key binary and ternary systems that are essential for designing (selecting) alloys to meet property goals.
