Imaging individual solute atoms at crystalline imperfections in metals
Directly imaging all atoms constituting a material and, maybe more importantly, crystalline defects that dictate materials’ properties, remains a formidable challenge.

RIPK4 function interferes with melanoma cell adhesion and metastasis
RIPK4 promotes melanoma growth and spread. RIPK4 levels increase as skin lesions progress to melanoma. CRISPR/Cas9‐mediated deletion of RIPK4 causes melanoma cells to form less compact spheroids, reduces their migratory and invasive abilities and limits tumour growth and dissemination in mouse models.

Atomistic Understanding of 2D Monatomic Phase‐Change Material for Non‐Volatile Optical Applications
Elemental antimony (Sb) is a promising material for phase‐change memory, neuromorphic computing, and nanophotonic applications, because its compositional simplicity prevents phase segregation upon extensive programming. Scaling down the film thickness is

Invar effects in FeNiCo medium entropy alloys: From an Invar treasure map to alloy design
To facilitate the understanding of Invar effects and design of FeNiCo-base Invar alloys characterized by low thermal expansion coefficient (TEC), we investigated the magnetic and thermal expansion behavior of an equiatomic prototype medium entropy alloy ...

Hijacking emergency granulopoiesis: Neutrophil ontogeny and reprogramming in cancer
Neutrophils are highly plastic innate immune cells; their functions in cancer extend beyond the tumour microenvironment. This Review summarises current understanding of neutrophil maturation and heterogeneity and highlights tumour‐induced granulopoiesis as a systemic programme that expands immature, immunosuppressive neutrophils via tumour‐derived ...

Welded repairs of punctured thin-walled aluminum pressure vessels [PDF]
Punctures in thin-walled aluminum pressure vessels are repaired by plugging the hole with an interference-fit disc and welding the unit. The repaired vessels withstood test pressures in excess of vessel ultimate design values for 2-, 4-, and 6-inch holes

Underlying burning resistant mechanisms for titanium alloy
The "titanium fire" as produced during high pressure and friction is the major failure scenario for aero-engines. To alleviate this issue, Ti-V-Cr and Ti-Cu-Al series burn resistant titanium alloys have been developed. However, which burn resistant alloy
