Mechanical Alloying of Immiscible Metallic Systems: Process, Microstructure, and Mechanism

Advanced Engineering Materials, 2021
Immiscible metallic systems provide new opportunities for tailoring material properties due to their unique microstructure. However, they are immiscible in the liquid state, or separate into incompatible liquid phase during the cooling process, making it

Casting alloys

Dental Clinics of North America, 2004
Although the role of dental casting alloys has changed in recent years with the development of improved all-ceramic materials and resin-based composites, alloys will likely continue to be critical assets in the treatment of missing and severely damaged teeth. Alloy shave physical, chemical, and biologic properties that exceed other classes of materials.

Scandium-alloyed aluminum alloys

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 1992
The basic principles of alloying of aluminum alloys with scandium are: it is desirable to add scandium to aluminum alloys in a quantity from 0.1 to 0.3% together with zirconium (0.05–0.15%), which strengthens the positive influence of scandium on the structure and properties of alloys; the greatest effect (that is, the positive influence on mechanical ...

The influence of alloying and fabrication techniques on the mechanical properties, biodegradability and biocompatibility of zinc: A comprehensive review.

Acta Biomaterialia, 2019
Zinc has been identified as one of the most promising biodegradable metals along with magnesium and iron. Zinc appears to address some of the core engineering problems associated with magnesium and iron when applied to biomedical implant applications ...

Calcium-alloyed magnesium alloys

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 2009
Mg - Al - Ca alloys positioned in the Mg - Al 2 Ca quasi-binary section are studied. It is shown that alloys of this system bearing the Al 2 Ca compound as a hardening phase can be used for developing structural alloys with elevated strength at 170°C and that the strength characteristics of the Mg - Al - Ca alloys can be improved by adding manganese.

Alloying Nickel with Molybdenum Significantly Accelerates Alkaline Hydrogen Electrocatalysis.

Angewandte Chemie, 2020
Bifunctional hydrogen electrocatalysis (hydrogen oxidation and hydrogen evolution reactions) in alkaline solution is desirable but challenging. Among all available electrocatalysts, Ni-based materials are the only non-precious-metal-based candidates for ...

Scandium Alloying of Aluminum Alloys

Metal Science and Heat Treatment, 2020
Basic physical metallurgy principles of alloying of aluminum alloys with scandium are considered and the fundamentals of the production of deformed semiproducts from these alloys are discussed. The discussion is based on the expected widening of the range of application of deformed semiproducts from scandium-alloyed aluminum alloys.
