Optimization of homogenization for a low alloyed AlMgSi alloy
Abstract The homogenization practice for EN AW 6060 was investigated. It takes an 8-hour soak at 580 °C to level out the Mg and Si distribution in the matrix and to transform the monoclinic β-Al5FeSi plates into relatively small α-AlFeSi particles. The solute Si and Mg are largely retained in solution during subsequent cooling at > 500 °C h− 1. Mg2Si

Effect of Boriding on the Tribological Behavior of Monel 400 Alloy
The Monel 400 alloy, composed primarily of nickel and copper, offers excellent corrosion resistance but exhibits relatively low wear resistance, limiting its durability in demanding applications such as maritime industries, pumps, and valves.

A numerical model resulting from irreversible thermodynamics for describing transport processes is introduced, focusing on thermodynamic activity gradients as the actual driving force for diffusion. Implemented in CUDA C++ and using CalPhaD methods for determining the necessary activity data, the model accurately simulates interdiffusion in aluminum ...

Tailoring Ferrimagnetic Properties Using Proximity Effects in Co/Tb‐Co Bilayers
The presence of two magnetic sublattices in ferrimagnetic rare‐earth‐transition metal alloys enables the tuning of their magnetic properties by adjusting the film composition (e.g., magnetization, coercivity, as well as compensation and Curie ...

Zein‐Based Adhesives: Sustainable Extraction and Application in Bioadhesive Technologies
Zein is extracted from corn gluten meal using a simple and scalable process with high yield (~90%). The resulting protein is applied in bioadhesives modified with Ca2+ and Fe3+ ions, exhibiting substrate‐dependent adhesion. The findings demonstrate competitive bonding performance and highlight the role of ionic interactions in tuning adhesion ...

We present the new concept of photonic alloy as a non-periodic topological material. By mixing non-magnetized and magnetized rods in a non-periodic 2D photonic crystal configuration, we realized photonic alloys in the microwave regime. Our experimental findings reveal that the photonic alloy sustains non-reciprocal chiral edge states (CESs) even at ...
