A Geometric Theory for Hypergraph Matching

open access: yes, 2013
We develop a theory for the existence of perfect matchings in hypergraphs under quite general conditions. Informally speaking, the obstructions to perfect matchings are geometric, and are of two distinct types: 'space barriers' from convex geometry, and '

The complexity of almost perfect matchings and other packing problems in uniform hypergraphs with high codegree

open access: yesEuropean Journal of Combinatorics, 2013
In this paper we prove that the problem of deciding whether a given k-uniform hypergraph H, with minimum (k-1)-wise vertex degree at least c|V(H)|, contains a matching missing exactly r vertices, that is, a set of disjoint edges of size (|V(H)|-r)/k, is NP-complete for c 1k and r>0 we provide a polynomial time algorithm for the corresponding search ...

Mapping Nanoscale Buckling in Atomically Thin Cr2Ge2Te6

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Atomic‐resolution STEM is used to resolve nanoscale buckling in monolayer Cr2Ge2Te₆. A noise‐robust image analysis reconstructs three‐dimensional lattice distortions from single plan‐view images, revealing pronounced defect‐driven nm‐scale out‐of‐plane buckling.

Anonymous Market and Group Ties in International Trade [PDF]

open access: yes
When trade involves differentiated products, preferential ties to a group settled abroad facilitate an exporter's entry into the foreign market by providing information and access to distribution channels. This contrasts with the difficulties experienced

The absolute values of the perfect matching derangement graph's eigenvalues almost follow the lexicographic order of partitions

open access: yesDiscrete Mathematics
In 2013, Ku and Wong showed that for any partitions $μ$ and $μ'$ of a positive integer $n$ with the same first part $u$ and the lexicographic order $μ\triangleleft μ'$, the eigenvalues $ξ_μ$ and $ξ_{μ'}$ of the derangement graph $Γ_n$ have the property $|ξ_μ|\le |ξ_{μ'}|$, where the equality holds if and only if $u=3$ and all other parts are less than $

2D Magnetic and Topological Quantum Materials and Devices for Ultralow Power Spintronics

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
2D magnets and topological quantum materials enable ultralow‐power spintronics by combining robust magnetic order with symmetry‐protected, Berry‐curvature‐driven transport. Fundamentals of 2D anisotropy and spin‐orbit‐coupling induced band inversion are linked to scalable growth and vdW stacking.

Assortative matching through signals [PDF]

open access: yes
We model signalling in two-sided sequential search with heterogeneous agents and transferable utility. Search via meetings is time-consuming and thereby costly due to discounting. Search via signals is costless, so that agents can avoid almost all search

Harnessing the Orientation of Columnar Discotic Liquid Crystals for Narrowband Blue Emission with Enhanced Out‐Coupling Efficiency Toward Improvement of SP‐OLEDs Performance

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Solution‐processed OLEDs containing discotic liquid‐crystalline MR‐TADF emitters are reported. Supramolecular self‐assembly induces homeotropic columnar alignment, enforcing preferential horizontal orientation of the emitter transition dipole moment in spin‐coated films, which leads to an enhancement in the device light outcoupling efficiency while ...

Beyond the Edge: Charge‐Transfer Excitons in Organic Donor‐Acceptor Cocrystals

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Complex excitonic landscapes in acene–perfluoroacene cocrystals are unveiled by polarization‐resolved optical spectroscopy and many‐body theory. This systematic study of a prototypical model system for weakly interacting donor–acceptor compounds challenges common views of charge‐transfer excitons, providing a refined conceptual framework for ...

Additive Manufacturing of NiTi Shape Memory Alloys for Elastocaloric Applications: A Review

open access: yesAdvanced Functional Materials, EarlyView.
Additive manufacturing enables complex NiTi architectures that overcome key limitations in elastocaloric refrigeration, including poor heat transfer and high mechanical work input. This review surveys recent advances in LPBF‐ and DED‐fabricated NiTi shape memory alloys for elastocaloric applications, highlighting process–structure–performance ...
