A procedure for in vitro plant regeneration of Alnus acuminata from epicotyls with cotyledonary buds was developed using different media formulations with different growth regulators and carbon sources. The development of multiple buds on explants at the initiation step was obtained with MS at 1/2 strength with either 1 or 2μM of BAP but not without it.

Allometric models for estimating biomass and carbon in Alnus acuminata
In order to quantify the climate change mitigation potential of forest plantations, information on total biomass and its growth rate is required. Depending on the method used, the study of the biomass behavior can be a complex and expensive activity. The

The objective of this study was to determine patterns of ectomycorrhizas (ECM) and arbuscular mycorrhizas (AM) colonization associated with Alnus acuminata (Andean alder), in relation to soil parameters (electrical conductivity, field H(2)O holding capacity, pH, available P, organic matter, and total N) at two different seasons (autumn and spring). The

¿La giberelina aumenta la aclimatación de plántulas de Alnus acuminata al arsénico? [PDF]
Arsenic is a metalloid naturally distributed in the lithosphere. However, anthropogenic factors, such as mining, increase pollution in soils. The objective of this research was to evaluate the effect of different concentrations of gibberellins (GA3) on ...

Ectomycorrhizae (ECM) of Lactarius aff. omphaliformis Romagn., Russula alnijorullensis (Sing.) Sing. and Cortinarius tucumanensis Mos. on Andean alder (Alnus acuminata Kunth) were characterized and identified. The identification of the fungal symbionts was achieved by morpho-anatomical observations of mycorrhizae and by comparison of ITS-RFLP patterns ...

Changes in microbiome assembly of the pioneer Andean tree Alnus acuminata under land degradation
Land degradation in the Andes threatens ecosystems and biodiversity. The recovery of these areas often depends on pioneer species such as Alnus acuminata, which relies on symbiotic microorganisms for nutrient acquisition and stress tolerance ...
