Genetic basis for personalized medicine in asthma [PDF]
There is heterogeneity in patient responses to current asthma medications. Significant progress has been made identifying genetic polymorphisms that influence the efficacy and potential for adverse effects to asthma drugs, including; β2-adrenergic ...

The functional analysis for the association of ALOX5 polymorphisms with asthma
The leukotrienes constitute a group of arachidonic acid‐derived compounds suggesting important roles in inflammation and immediate hypersensitivity. ALOX5 is a key enzyme required for the production of the cysteinyl‐leukotrienes. We genotyped five SNPs among these polymorphisms in a Korean population.

Ketogenic diets attenuate cyclooxygenase and lipoxygenase gene expression in multiple sclerosis [PDF]
Background: Adapted ketogenic diet (AKD) and caloric restriction (CR) have been suggested as alternative therapeutic strategies for inflammatory, hyperproliferative and neurodegenerative diseases.

Evaluation of cerebrospinal fluid levels for ALOX5, S100B, DEFA1, and GFAP in infectious meningitis
Background: The aim of this study was to determine how the levels of peptide and protein-based biomarkers in cerebrospinal fluid change in bacterial, tuberculous, and aseptic meningitis, and to determine the success of these agents in distinguishing between different types of infectious meningitis.

Determinants of sensitivity to DZNep induced apoptosis in multiple myeloma cells. [PDF]
The 3-Deazaneplanocin A (DZNep), one of S-adenosylhomocysteine (AdoHcy) hydrolase inhibitors, has shown antitumor activities in a broad range of solid tumors and acute myeloid leukemia.

Cooperation between RUNX1-ETO9a and novel transcriptional partner KLF6 in upregulation of Alox5 in acute myeloid leukemia. [PDF]
Fusion protein RUNX1-ETO (AML1-ETO, RUNX1-RUNX1T1) is expressed as the result of the 8q22;21q22 translocation [t(8;21)], which is one of the most common chromosomal abnormalities found in acute myeloid leukemia.
