Chemoprevention of aberrant crypt foci in the colon of rats by dietary onion [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Onion intake might reduce the risk of colorectal cancer, according to epidemiology. However, Femia showed in 2003 that diets with a 20% onion intake increase carcinogenesis in rats. We speculated this dose was too high.

THE EFFECT OF NaOH CONCENTRATION IN DELIGNIFICATION PROCESS ON MICROCRYSTALLINE CELLULOSE FROM GREEN ALGAE (Cladophora sp.) AS THE RENEWABLE MARINE PRODUCT

open access: yesJurnal Farmasi Sains dan Komunitas, 2018
Research on marine natural resources as an excipient material of pharmaceutical product is still rare. One of the marine products is the green algae, Cladophora sp. High cellulose content causes Cladophora sp. which can be used as an alternative material

Bi-acylation of cellulose: determining the relative reactivities of the acetyl and fatty-acyl moieties [PDF]

open access: yes, 2011
The global reaction between acetic anhydride and a fatty acid yields, at equilibrium, an asymmetric acetic-aliphatic anhydride in a medium containing finally: acetic-fatty anhydride, acetic anhydride, fatty acid, acetic acid and fatty anhydride.

Studi Penyediaan Nanokristal Selulosa dari Tandan Kosong Sawit (Tks) [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
Isolation and characterization cellulose nanocrystal of alpha cellulose from Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) have been performed. Oil Palm Empty Fruit Bunch (EFB) was delignificated with 3,5% HNO3 and NaNO2, precipitated with17.5% NaOH, bleaching process ...

Enzymatic degradation of biopolymers in amorphous and molten states: mechanisms and applications

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This review explains how polymer morphology and thermal state shape enzymatic degradation pathways, comparing amorphous and molten biopolymer structures. By integrating structure–reactivity principles with insights from thermodynamics and enzyme engineering, it highlights mechanisms that enable efficient polymer breakdown.

Promiscuous stimulation of HSP70 ATPase activity by parasite‐derived J‐domains

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The malaria parasite Plasmodium falciparum exports three highly homologous yet functionally divergent J‐domain proteins into human erythrocytes. Here, we show that J‐domains isolated from all three proteins effectively stimulate the ATPase activity of both endogenous host and exported parasite HSP70 chaperones.

Theoretical evaluation of calibration factor for LR-115 cellulose nitrate solid state nuclear track detectors: A model for determining alpha radioactivity level in natural water

open access: yesRadiation Protection and Environment, 2022
Alpha-sensitive solid-state nuclear track detectors (SSNTDs) are used successively for decades for determining the alpha-radiation level in various environmental materials.

Global nirs models to predict main chemical compounds of Eucalyptus woods [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The Nirs technology is particularly well-suited to tree improvement programmes where huge numbers of samples must be analysed, but it can be used in any forestry application where the rapid measurement of wood property data is required or to screen ...

Mass spectrometry based identification of AMP‐O‐Tris generated by Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Isolated Thermococcus onnurineus Cas10 generates the noncanonical ATP‐derived product AMP‐O‐Tris while in Tris‐containing buffer as identified via mass spectrometry, revealing relaxed nucleophile selectivity under isolated conditions. These findings suggest that multiprotein Csm complex assembly restricts Cas10 reactivity toward canonical cyclic ...

TESTING MICROCRYSTALLINE CELULLOSE USING SPECTROMETER AND POLARIZED LIGHT MICROSCOPE [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It has been proposed to test the microcrystalline of cellulose materials using polarized light microscope (PLM) and uv-visible spectrometer . The microcrystalline cellulose was prepared from kenaf bast fibers while the nano crystalline was prepared from ...
