Classification of the polarimetric SAR using fuzzy boundaries in entropy and alpha plane
Proceedings. 2005 IEEE International Geoscience and Remote Sensing Symposium, 2005. IGARSS '05., 2005In this paper, a new classification scheme which can address the inherent vagueness of class boundaries in the entropy- alpha plane is tested for improvements by introducing the fuzzy concept. A two-dimensional fuzzy membership function is developed for fuzzification of the entropy-alpha plane. Proposed classification approach preserves the information

Binary Alpha-plane Assisted Motion Estimation of MPEG-4 Arbitrarily Shaped Video Objects
2006 8th international Conference on Signal Processing, 2006In this paper, we propose a fast motion estimation algorithm of arbitrarily shaped video object in MPEG-4. The proposed algorithm incorporates the binary alpha-plane and the extended contour to predict accurately the motion vectors of boundary macroblocks so that the conventional fast motion estimation algorithms can be employed to search the motion ...

Determining the Optimal Fuzzifier Range for Alpha-Planes of General Type-2 Fuzzy Sets
2018 IEEE International Conference on Fuzzy Systems (FUZZ-IEEE), 2018Type-2 fuzzy sets (T2 FSs) are capable of handling uncertainty more efficiently than type-1 fuzzy sets (T1 FSs). The fuzzifier parameter plays an important role in the final cluster partitions in fuzzy c-means (FCM), interval type-2 (IT2) FCM, general type-2 (GT2) FCM, and other fuzzy clustering algorithms. In general, fuzzifiers are chosen for a given

Binary Alpha-Plane Assisted Fast Motion Estimation of Video Objects in Wavelet Domain
2009 Data Compression Conference, 2009In this paper, we present a novel approach to motion estimation (ME) of arbitrarily shaped video objects in wavelet domain. We explore the guiding role of binary alpha-plane in assisting ME of video objects and first devise a new block matching scheme of alpha-plane, by exploiting boundary expansion and boundary masks.

The eigenvalue-eigenvector-based approach for understanding the scattering mechanisms of polarimetric synthetic aperture radar (POLSAR) data leads to noisy classification results due to arbitrarily fixed zone boundaries in the H/alpha macr plane. In this paper, a new classification scheme that can address the inherent vagueness of class boundaries in ...

This paper considers microarray gene expression data clustering using a novel two stage meta-heuristic algorithm based on the concept of α-planes in general type-2 fuzzy sets. The main aim of this research is to present a powerful data clustering approach capable of dealing with highly uncertain environments.

In the practical work of the H/Alpha Wishart Maximum Likelihood segmentation, Cloude-Pottier's original boundary scheme would have often been a default setting. In this paper, the implication of boundary adjustment in H/Alpha plane on the unsupervised Wishart ML segmentation for fully polarimetric SAR data is researched.

The medical imaging has seen a significant technological shift from analog-film-based imaging to high-end digital computer imaging. One of the problems this domain has always faced is the blurred images due to the natural motion in the body and mechanical motion of the capturing devices.
