A rapid and simple method to isolate pure alpha-cellulose
Phytochemical Analysis, 2000A protocol is described to isolate small quantities of highly purified cellulose for isotopic analysis of 10–100 mg samples of secondary (Pinus sylvestris L.) and primary (Rubus idaeus L.) plant cell wall material. Elemental analysis of 350 cellulose samples isolated from pine wood samples estimated the relative carbon content to be ca.

Alpha-particle registration characteristics in ‘Daicel’ cellulose nitrate SSNTD
Nuclear Instruments and Methods, 1974Abstract The characteristics of the revelation of α particles of three different energies (≈4.5, 5.5 and 6.1 MeV) incident on “Daicel” cellulose nitrate have been studied as a function of the etching time as well as of the angle of incidence and the residual energy. It is found that the lower the initial or the residual energy of the α particles, the

Microcrystalline cellulose (C6H10O5) is purified, white free-flowing powder partially depolymerized cellulose prepared by treating alpha cellulose, obtained as a pulp from fibrous plant material. There are various fibrous materials such as rice husk, wheat husk, coconut husk, and cotton yarn, which contain cellulose can be used as a raw material.

Zirconium Dioxide Supported on .alpha.-Cellulose: Synthesis and Characterization
Langmuir, 1994Cellulose-supported zirconium dioxide was prepared by reaction of ethanolic zirconium tetrachloride solution with a-cellulose. The treated cellulose was characterized by C-13 cross-polarization magic angle spinning nuclear magnetic resonance, powder X-ray diffraction, X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy, scanning electron microscope, and X-ray ...

Use of cellulose nitrate for alpha autoradiography
Metallography, 1972Abstract Plastic- and specimen-supported cellulose nitrate detector films were employed in the alpha autoradiography of metallographic specimens containing uranium and plutonium. For autoradiographs made with plastic-supported film, the film was removed from the specimen prior to developing in 6 N sodium hydroxide.

Extraction of Rice Straw Alpha Cellulose Micro/Nano Fibres
Materials Science Forum, 2017Rice straw cellulose a biomass materials, naturally found in abundance. It is low cost, eco-friendly and biodegradable. Alpha cellulose is prepared from rice straw using chemical method namely acid hydrolysis and alkaline treatment. Both of the samples treatments were bleached using sodium chlorite (NaClO2). Alkaline treatment shows higher in producing

Influence of alpha-cellulose on myoelectric activity of proximal canine colon
American Journal of Physiology-Gastrointestinal and Liver Physiology, 1983The relations between dietary fiber intake and myoelectric activity of the proximal canine colon were examined in four normal beagles fed four diets of varying fiber content in a randomized block design. The basal diet was a canned, meat-based product to which 3, 6, and 9% by weight of alpha-cellulose was added.

Heterogeneous Aspects of Acid Hydrolysis of α-Cellulose
Applied Biochemistry and Biotechnology, 2003Hydrolysis of alpha-cellulose by H2SO4 is a heterogeneous reaction. As such the reaction is influenced by physical factors. The hydrolysis reaction is therefore controlled not only by the reaction conditions (acid concentration and temperature) but also by the physical state of the cellulose. As evidence of this, the reaction rates measured at the high-

Mechanical Properties of Poly(Butylene Succinate) Reinforced with Alpha Cellulose
Advanced Materials Research, 2015The objective of this study is to prepare α-cellulose reinforced poly (butylene succinate) composites (PBS/α-cellulose). The effect of amount α-cellulose on the mechanical properties of the composites was investigated. To improve interfacial interaction between PBS and α-cellulose, glycidyl methacrylate grafted poly (butylene succinate) (PBS-g-GMA) was

Digestion of Alpha-Cellulose by Larvæ of Anobium punctatum De Geer
Nature, 1951PARKIN1 demonstrated that the larval gut of the common house borer Anobium punctatum De Geer contained an enzyme or enzymes which produced reducing sugars from isolated oak α-cellulose in vitro. Falck2 and Muller3 concluded from chemical analyses of sound and digested wood that some α-cellulose was digested by the larvae.
