DURATION OF GRANITOID MAGMATISM IN PERIPHERAL PARTS OF LARGE IGNEOUS PROVINCES (BASED ON 40AR/39AR ISOTOPIC STUDIES OF ALTAI PERMIAN-TRIASSIC GRANITOIDS)

open access: yesГеодинамика и тектонофизика, 2017
In large igneous provinces (LIP) of fold areas, granitoid rocks are dominant, while mantle-derivated rocks play a subordinate role in rock formation. If magma emissions are impulsive, it may take 25–30 million years for a LIP to form and take shape.

ALTAI: Computational code for the simulations of TeV air showers as observed with the ground-based imaging atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes [PDF]

open access: yesNucl.Instrum.Meth. A450 (2000) 419-429, 2000
Ground-based atmospheric Cherenkov telescopes are proven to be effective instruments for observations of very high energy (VHE) gamma-radiation from celestial objects. For effective use of such technique one needs detailed Monte Carlo simulations of gamma-ray- and proton/nuclei-induced air showers in Earth atmosphere.

An exploration of market mechanisms to the wicked problem of space debris 太空垃圾棘手问题的市场机制探究 Una exploración de los mecanismos del mercado para resolver el complejo problema de los desechos espaciales

open access: yesRisk, Hazards &Crisis in Public Policy, EarlyView.
Abstract Near‐earth orbits are becoming congested because of a rapid growth in the number of satellites and space debris, which presents a real threat to the sustainable use of space and the safety of the Earth. Despite space scientists and public policymakers having been actively seeking solutions for decades, solving the problem has been put off ...

Studies of the Belukha glacier plexus in the context of global glacio-climatic monitoring (on the 100th anniversary of the first ascent of the Belukha Mountain)

open access: yesЛëд и снег, 2015
The Belukha Mountain is the highest peak of the Altai. On July 26 (7th August in the new time scale) of 1914 the brothers Boris and Mikhail Tronov discovered the mountain and were the first people to climb it. The Tronov Glacier is named after them.

Who's the boss? Understanding the spatial relationship between snow leopard and Eurasian lynx in southern Mongolia

open access: yesWildlife Biology, EarlyView.
Interspecific competition, a fundamental ecological process characterized by negative interactions between species, plays a vital role in shaping ecological communities. Despite the co‐occurrence of the snow leopard Panthera uncia and the Eurasian lynx Lynx lynx across vast landscapes in Asia, their interactions remain poorly understood. In this study,

The Altai Assistance Project

open access: yesMountain Research and Development, 2006
Abstract The Altai Republic, known as “the Switzerland of Russia” (http://eng.altai-republic.ru/), is located on the southwestern edge of Siberia, in the Russian portion of the Altai-Sayan range which continues into Kazakhstan, China, and Mongolia. It is a spectacularly beautiful, unspoiled, and undeveloped land of forests, open rangeland, and mountain

Genetic differentiation and adaptive evolution of buff‐tailed bumblebees in Asia

open access: yesInsect Science, EarlyView.
This study investigates the genetic differentiation and local adaptation of the buff‐tailed bumblebee (Bombus terrestris) across its European and Asian populations. Using whole‐genome resequencing, we identified distinct genetic differences between populations, with Asian B. terrestris representing a unique genetic resource.

Casimir energy for spherical shell in Schwarzchild black hole background [PDF]

open access: yesGen.Rel.Grav. 36 (2004) 331-341, 2002
In this paper, we consider the Casimir energy of massless scalar field which satisfy Dirichlet boundary condition on a spherical shell. Outside the shell, the spacetime is assumed to be described by the Schwarzschild metric, while inside the shell it is taken to be the flat Minkowski space.

A Line Through the Sacred Lands of the Altai Mountains: Perspectives on the Altai Pipeline Project

open access: yesMountain Research and Development, 2011
In 2006 preliminary plans were made public showing that Gazprom intended to construct a pipeline through the Altai republic (Russia, south-west Siberia). Unfortunately, there was almost no attention to integrating the conservation of cultural heritage (both archaeological and landscape) into the planning of the pipeline, though the Altai is well-known ...
